X-Men ‘97, the well-received revival ofX-Men: The Animated Series, rewarded fans with both the strongest writing that Marvel’s mutants have received on television in years, as well as the return of many classic voice actors. One such actress is Lenore Zann, who voiced Rogue in the original series. Zann recently discussed the series’ upcoming second and third seasons, providing much-anticipated updates.

Speaking withCollider, Zahn revealed that the cast has “finished recording Season 2, and that will be coming out in 2026.” Continuing, she alsoadded: “I’m about to start to go into the studio next week to start on season three, so I’ve got lots to look forward to.”

The actress explained: “I met Matt Chauncey, who’s our new head writer and showrunner, and I’ve met a lot of the writers, well, all of them, actually. It’s great. And it’s interesting because I wrote a memoir called A Rogue’s Tale, which just came out in the fall. He contacted me and said, ‘I’d really like to give your book to each of the writers.’ So he gave it as Christmas presents to the writers. It was really sweet.”

What Lenore Zann’s X-Men ‘97 Update Means

Zann’s update is exciting for fans itching for more mutant-centric Marvel stories. Given the timeline Zann suggested,it’s likely the gap between the release of seasons two and three ofX-Men'97 will be much smaller than that of season one and season two.Previously, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming Brad Winderbaumteasedwhat fans had to look forward to inX-Men ‘97’sfuture:

“Season 2 ofX-Men ‘97is going to be in ‘26. We’re working on it now. It’s exciting. That world of the ‘90s is just… Honestly… I can’t believe they let me make it. I grew up at Marvel, as you know. I’ve clocked a lot of time here, and I feel like I used a lot of currency to revive this thing that I loved watching after school. So, the fact that we get to play in that universe with those actors is honestly why I went into this business in the first place.”

Between Zann and Winderbaum’s endorsements, the new writing team seems to have a good handle on what madeX-Men ‘97a success. Moreover, there is no indication that the animated series is undergoing a significant overhaul likeDaredevil: Born Againdid, so it will likely fall in line with its debut season.

Our Take On Lenore Zann’s X-Men ‘97 Update

If season two ofX-Men ‘97has wrapped and season three is starting production, audiences could be seeing more of the series sooner rather than later. Zann has indicated that the new creative team behind the show is committed, so hopefully, that will translate to doing it justice.X-Men ‘97will be back before fans know it—which will hopefully bring closure to the multiple dangling plot threads left in the season one finale.
