Warner Bros. Gameshas scrapped its troubledWonder Womanvideo game, as part of a massive reorganization that includes the shutdown of three different game studios. Back in November, WB head David Zaslav noted that Warner Bros. Games was significantly underperforming, leading to speculation that seismic changes would be underway. One of the biggest potential targets was a Wonder Woman game being developed by Monolith Productions.
Bloomberg reporterJason Schreieris reporting that Warner Bros. Games is canceling theWonder Womangame as well as shutting down Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB San Diego. Schreier’s initial report includes no further details about why the moves were happening, althoughtheWonder Womangame has reportedly been in trouble for quite some time.

One of the biggest reasons why Warner Bros. has shaken up its game studios is that two recent high-level games have greatly underperformed compared to expectations.Suicide Squadbombed as a live-service game in 2024, whileMultiversusis winding downafter WB Games shut it down after beta and relaunched it.
In a statement provided toKotaku,Warner Bros. Games noted that it was structuring its games studios around “key franchises” that includeMortal Kombat,Harry Potter, DC,andGame of Thrones.
The statement also provided additional details about whyWonder Womanwas scrapped. “Our hope was to give players and fans the highest quality experience possible for the iconic character, and unfortunately this is no longer possible within our strategic priorities,” the statement read.“This is another tough decision, as we recognize Monolith’s storied history of delivering epic fan experiences through amazing games.”
