Netflix has released a trailer forWoman of the Hour. The film stars Anna Kendrick, who also directs in what is her first feature, and follows the real-life story about a woman and aserial killerwho meet on a dating show.Woman of the Houris based on serial killer Rodney Alcala, played by Daniel Zovatto in the film, who appeared inThe Dating Gamein the middle of his murder spree. Kendrick stars as contestant Cheryl Bradshaw, who becomes entangled with Rodney after they both appear on the show.
Woman of the Hourpremiered at the Toronto International Film Festivalin 2023, where Netflix picked up distribution rights in the US. Now, just over a year after its premiere, the streamer has released the trailer for the film. The clip features two scenes, both taking place during a date between Cheryl and Rodney. One sees a conversation between the two going south, with Cheryl signaling to the waitress that she would like the date to be over.

The other scene sees Rodney and Cheryl in a parking lot after the date. When Rodney asks for Cheryl’s phone number again, it’s clear she has given him a fake one that she can’t repeat. Though there are only two scenes in the trailer forWoman of the Hour, they reveal just how the film will handle its subject. There’s a decidedly sinister tone to Rodney and Cheryl’s interactions, one that translates to a horror that will be all-too-real for many viewers. While the era its set in and the television show format are reminiscent of the2024 horror movieLate Night with the Devil, that film is more outlandish in nature.
