Some users have noticed that theParamount+streaming app keeps freezing. Fortunately, some of the error codes have quick fixes. Paramount+ is the on-demand over-the-top streaming service for Paramount Global, formerly known as CBS Corporation. Theplatform pulls its content library from Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, and other Viacom brands. It also includes the substantial Paramount movie library. Like other streaming services,Paramount+ has original series, withMayor of KingstownandThe Standbeing counted among their productions.

Paramount+ is one of the big streaming services alongside Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Max, Apple TV+, Peacock, Hulu, and Disney+ and is one of the more unique streamers, with access to different content than the other services, at least on a more consistent basis. It’s also relatively cheap, with prices beginning at $7.99/month andParamount+ allows for multiple devices to stream simultaneously. Not all is well atop the blue and white mountain, however, andsome users have run into freezing issues with their Paramount+ apps.

Every Reason Paramount+ Keeps Freezing & How To Fix It

There Are Several Common Error Codes Paramount+ Users Have Experienced

There are several reasons why Paramount+ may be freezing on users. Like any technology, Paramount+ isn’t perfect, and sometimes the solution is as easy as lowering the temperature in the room. Other times, a more technical fix is required.Using a low-powered device can make it difficult to streamas the hardware isn’t powerful enough to handle the high-quality 4k video, users can shift down to a lower-quality video resolution. If a device overheats, Paramount+ can freeze, so users should ensure device exhausts are unobstructed and the room isn’t too humid.

Another issue could be a slow internet connectionif the device is situated far from the router. Moving the router closer to the device should alleviate some problems, or users can upgrade their internet speeds. Sometimes the app just needs a restart, and turning it off and on will work to stop the freezing. The last reason could be that Paramount+ is down. This occasionally happens to all streaming apps and users should always go online first to make sure the issue is not on Paramount’s end.

How Will The Skydance Merger Affect Paramount+

Paramount+ Hopes To Merge With Skydance Media In 2025

Paramount+ and Paramount Global are looking to increase earnings, andare considering a merger with Skydance Media as a possible solution(viaDeadline). The potential joint streaming venture is expected to close in the first half of 2025. Regarding a merger, MoffettNathanson analyst Robert Fishman wrote in a recent note to clients,

“We think Paramount+ has a lot to gain from opting to partner and putting the costly business of going it alone behind it. As a standalone company, we do not think its balance sheet allows Paramount+ to keep investing in the necessary content to reach scale globally.”

This merger could potentially offer the most user-friendly version of a merged streamer consumers have yet to experience. Instead of switching between apps, like with Hulu and Disney+,Paramount+ and Skydance Media users would find everything in one streamlined app. Large tech deals are never complete until the ink dries, but this could be a boon forParamount+and more money on the balance sheet could mean more attention will soon be paid to app freezing issues.
