Becca Bell Killed Pip’s Dog Barney In A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder
Andie’s Sister Wanted Pip To Stop Investigating
Andie’s sister, Becca Bell, is the one that kills her inA Good Girl’s Guide to Murder— andshe’s also the reason Barney dies in the present-day story. Becca seems like a background character for much of the Netflix series, but her role in Andie’s death is more significant than the show initially lets on. Becca obviously wants Pip to drop her investigation, so she takes Barney and blackmails Pip using her leverage.
Since Barney winds up dead after Becca steals him,it’s safe to assume she’s the one who kills Pip’s dog in the Netflix show. However, the series never shows this — and in Holly Jackson’s book, things are more complicated. Becca still kidnaps Barney in the source material, but she claims that she didn’t really want to kill him. Barney falls in a river in the novel, after Becca lets him go. This is one of thechangesA Good Girl’s Guide to Murdermakesto the book. However, in both versions of the story, Barney dies due to Becca’s actions.

As for how Becca got her hands on Barney, that’s anyone’s guess. The series doesn’t show her kidnapping the dog, but Barney disappears during Pip’s brother’s birthday party. It seems Becca uses this distraction to make her move. The festivities prevent Pip from noticing that Barney is missing, so Becca’s plan works.A Good Girl’s Guide to Murdersprings this tragedy on Pip, forcing her to take the threats she’s getting a bit more seriously.
