Hera Hammerhand Is The Daughter Of Rohan’s Helm Hammerhand
Their Relationship Is A Central Focus Of 2024’s Lord Of The Rings Movie
Hera is obviously the daughter of Helm Hammerhand, andit looks like their relationship will be a central focus ofThe War of the Rohirrim. The Lord of the Ringsmovie sees Helm going to war with the Dunlendings, and Hera wishes to help her people. Helm seems reluctant to involve her in such matters, telling her, “You know nothing of war.” But judging by the later clips from the trailer, Hera gets her wish — and proves her father wrong. She looks like a force to be reckoned with, even if Helm is the one remembered 200 years later.
Helm clearly loves his daughter, as he calls her his “pride” and “joy” towards the end ofThe War of the Rohirrimtrailer. The movie’s entire confrontation also begins because of Hera. The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrimkeeps the only canon Tolkien wrote for Helm’s daughter. This directly connects her to the movie’s villain, and it brings the movie’s main conflict right back to her.

Hera Hammerhand’s Connection To War Of The Rohirrim’s Villain Explained
Wulf Is Hera’s Childhood Friend Who Proposes
Hera Hammerhand is the daughter ofThe War of the Rohirrim’s hero, but she also has a connection to the movie’s villain. Judging by the trailer,Hera and Wulf are childhood friends before war breaks out between their people. Hera tells Wulf that the old version of himself would never push for such violence, and there’s a brief flashback to them playing together as children. Needless to say, Hera’s inevitable showdown with Wulf is sure to be an emotional one. It appears the two have plenty of history, which makes their situation that much more tragic.
Of course,Hera and Wulf also seem to be the cause of the movie’s main conflict, as Wulf’s father attempts to wed the pair under the guise of an alliance. Helm believes he’s after his throne though, and he rejects the offer. It doesn’t help that Hera doesn’t want to marry Wulf in the movie. And when Helm kills Wulf’s dad, it leaves the villain bent on revenge against the pair. This is why tensions are so high inThe Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, and it’s probably why the movie is bulking up Hera’s role.
