The strange Township in MGM+‘sFromis perplexing for a variety of reasons, butone of the most compelling mysteries that’s plagued viewers involves where, exactly,From’s Town is located. In the sci-fi horror series, a small town traps anyone who drives inside its limits, holding them in an inescapable, often implausible purgatory. InFrom’s pilot, the Matthews family drives their RV down a wooded road until they reach a tree that obstructs their path. Afterward, Jim steers them onto the run-down Town’s endlessly looping main street. It’s an experienceFrom’s entire cast of charactersknows well.
What makes the Town even more challenging to weather is the fact thatFrom’s monstersappear at night to stalk and kill the townspeople. Using the creature-repelling talismans, the Township and Colony House’s inhabitants remain locked indoors until the sun rises again. Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau), the Town’s self-appointed sheriff, is one of a handful of characters who has dared to venture into the surrounding woods for answers. InFromseason 2’s ending,Tabitha Matthews (Catalina Sandino Moreno) even manages to escape the Town. However, the series has yet to fully explain the nature of the Town — or where it’s actually located.
From’s Town Is An Unknown Location In Middle America
The Town’s Inhabitants Were All In Different Places When They Drove Into The Area
As ofFromseason 3, the Town’s exact location is unknown. Situated within the larger Township, which also encompasses Colony House and other key locations,the Town is said to be in Middle America according to the show’s official synopsis. However, there’s no in-universe evidence that really supports that claim. In the show’s first season, Kenny (Ricky He) tries to convince Jade (David Alpay) of the Town’s quirks by showing him a map of the United States that’s hanging in the sheriff’s station. Littered with thumbtacks, the map depicts where the now-residents were before driving into the Town.

However, based on the townspeople’s previous locations, it does seem likeFrom’s purgatory is confined to the contiguous United States. The Town’s clinic, which is managed by Kristi (Chloe Van Landschoot), is located inside a former school. Although some letters in the name out front are missing, it appears to say “West Falls Elementary & High School.” Unfortunately, it’s a pretty generic name that, if accurate, doesn’t really give much more information.

Since the Town, and the larger Township, seem to be located within the United States,From’s filming locations aren’t much help when it comes to identifying where the show is set. For the most part,Fromwas filmed in Halifax, Nova Scotia.Canadian locales often serve as great stand-ins for East Coast locations, such as New York or New England, though The Great North could just as easily be used as a backdrop for a show set in the Pacific Northwest.
