The season has a “Lucky 13” theme, and will feature 15 contestants competing for the coveted Golden Mask trophy.
The Masked Singerseason 13 will feature exciting new theme nights including Lucky 13 on premiere night, followed byShrek,Ghostbusters, Grand Ole Opry (in honor of its 100th anniversary), Rat Pack, Voices of Olympus: Unmasking the Gods, Carnival, Boy Bands, and Decades Nights. In addition, Soundtrack of My Life Night will return.
According toVariety,The Masked Singerseason 13 will feature exciting new theme nights including Lucky 13 on premiere night, followed byShrek,Ghostbusters, Grand Ole Opry (in honor of its 100th anniversary), Rat Pack, Voices of Olympus: Unmasking the Gods, Carnival, Boy Bands, and Decades Nights. In addition, Soundtrack of My Life Night will return.ForThe Masked Singerseason 13, there will also be a “Lucky 6 Speed Guessing” episode, in which the final six contestants will compete. The semi-finals episode will be titled, “Clash of the Masks.”
The Masked Singerseason 13 will also introduce a new character called Detective Lucky Duck, who’ll appear throughout the season to give clues, much like Donnie Wahlberg’s season 5 character, Cluedle Doo, and has an Australian accent.So far, nine competing characters have been officially revealed, including Ant, Bat, Cherry Blossom, Coral, Fuzzy Peas, Griffin, Honey Pot, Paparazzo, and Space Ranger.
The Masked SingerYouTube channel has releaseda first look video, which gives a sneak peek of the season. It begins with Nick saying,“It’s your lucky day, ‘cause The Masked Singer is back, and season 13 is our luckiest ever.“He then introduces Lucky Duck, stating,“There’s a new quack in town. He’s got a beak for clues, and nose for news. Give it up for Detective Lucky Duck!“As the shocked judges react to his introduction, Lucky Duck says,“Greetings, gumshoes. I’m no performer. I’ve waddled into this feathered fiasco to crack this case wide open.”
The Masked Singerseason 13 contestant Coral is then shown singing “Luck Be A Lady.” Lucky Duck then continues,“I’ll be bringing you clues, see. Surprises and fortune throughout the season. Think of me as your personal good luck charm. Today we’re on the case to spill the new season’s lucky secrets. But first, the suspects.“Lucky Duck then opens the door to a room filled with costumes, saying,“Ah, the masked stash! Pay attention! It’s all a clue. A-ha! Jackpot!”
As scenes from the season are shown, Rita is heard saying,“I didn’t think this show would get any crazier!,“while Robin declares,“It’s happening!“Lucky Duck says,“These masks are the most elaborate, out-of-this-world yet!“As Space Ranger is shown, Rita says that she wants his hat.Paparazzo is then seen singing “That’s Amore” in the audience. Lucky Duck then adds,“This season’s themes are off the map,“as scenes fromShrek, Rat Pack, Grand Ole Opry,Ghostbusters, and other theme nights are revealed.
