The title ofA Court of Thorns & Rosesbook 6 remains a mystery, but there’s been plenty of speculation about what it could be — and even April Fool’s Day pranks announcing fake titles. One such title would actually make a promising name, as it would mean readers are getting a redemption story that’s nine years in the making. Whilethe sixthACOTARbookis confirmed asSarah J. Maas' next upcoming project, there’s no word on which character it will follow or what it will be about.

A Court of Silver Flamesbroke away from Feyre and Rhysand’s story, and the next installment seems likely to do the same. However, it may not follow Nesta and Cassian again. There are a number of othergreat supportingACOTARcharacterswho deserve their time in the limelight, including Elain Archeron, Lucien Vanserra, and even Tamlin. Andone April Fool’s Day prank suggests a book 6 title that would center Tamlin as its lead. While it’s not real, itwoulddeliver on a narrative that’s sorely needed afterA Court of Mist & Fury.

A Court Of Gentle Claws Would Finally Deliver On Tamlin’s Redemption Arc After 9 Years

His Story Needs A Better Resolution After The Past 4 ACOTAR Books

For April Fool’s Day 2025, @kalia.books posted a video onInstagram, claiming that the title of the nextCourt of Thorns & Rosesbook would beA Court of Gentle Claws. The video jests that the novel will come out this September and will likely follow Tamlin. Of course, the announcement isn’t real — butA Court of Gentle Claws,or something akin to it, would be a welcome development for many. The prospect of Tamlin getting a redemption arc is divisive, but it seems inevitable at this point. And it would finally resolve a storyline dating back to 2016’sACOMAF.

Although Tamlin is Feyre’s primary love interest inthe firstCourt of Thorns & Rosesbook,A Court of Mist & Furyturns their relationship on its head. This concludes with Rhysand being Feyre’s true endgame, but it also forces the series to do a 180 on Tamlin’s character. He becomes abusive towards Feyre in the second installment, and although he attempts to redeem himself inA Court of Wings & Ruin, it’s not enough. He then spends two more books in a state of disarray, so Maas' books really need to give him some sort of resolution.

Why Tamlin Needs His Own A Court Of Thorns & Roses Book

Sarah J. Maas Continues To Bring Up His Guilt & Grief

While it’s easy towrite Tamlin off as not needing a redemption arc,he sort of needs one at this point in Maas' series. After all, recent books keep bringing up the deteriorating state of the Spring Court and Tamlin’s poor state of mind, which means he must still be relevant to some degree. And even if Tamlin isn’t a likable character — his actions inACOMAFcan’t be justified or fully fixed — the Spring Court itself is a crucial part ofACOTAR’s world. It needs to be rehabilitated eventually, and that means its High Lord needs to be as well.

Feyre Doesn’t Need To Forgive Tamlin In The Next Court Of Thorns & Roses Book, But I Hope One Character Finally Does

At this point, Feyre has no reason to interact with Tamlin further, but I do have hopes that one character will reconcile with him in a future novel.

Tamlin also suffers from somewhat inconsistent writing inA Court of Thorns & Roses,as his shift from book 1 to book 2 is pretty extreme. The series then combines both portrayals, with Tamlin dwelling on his guilt and all the bad he’s done while also showing his ability to be decent. It’s obvious Tamlin has trauma from his past, and that could explain the extremes. ButMaas needs to dig deeper into this characterso we can fully understand these sides of him. No one needs to excuse or forgive his behavior, but he needs a better arc and resolution.

The Series Needs To Tell Elain Archeron’s Story First

WhileACOTARbook 6’s fake title would finally deliver a much-needed Tamlin narrative,A Court of Gentle Clawscan’t be the next installment in the series. It would make sense to give Tamlin his own novel down the line, but Maas needs to tell Elain Archeron’s story first. Elain has remained a mysterious and unexplored character for far too long. Her Seer abilities and intriguing mating bond with Lucien demand to be explored, and readers have already waited too long for Maas to unravel these threads.

It makes sense structurally to tell Elain’s story next, as prior books cover both of her sisters' arcs.

Additionally, it makes sense structurally to tell Elain’s story next, as prior books cover both of her sisters' arcs. With Feyre and Nesta both playing the heroine in earlier installments, it’s only right that Maas gives the third Archeron sister her time in the spotlight. Elain deserves her happy ending, too, and it’s still not clear what that looks like. Answering that question would give the series a feeling of completion, even if moreA Court of Thorns & Rosesbooks follow.
