Today’s Connections Category Hints

NOVEMBER 03 #511

I found today’s puzzle challenging at first glance, but when I stepped away and came back to the puzzle a little while later I found it a bit easier. That is often tip number one when you feel stuck in a puzzle like this,as fresh eyes often spot new evidence. However, to help speed that process along, we also have some hints for you that will give you some sense of what the categories are.

8 NYT Spelling Bee Strategies To Keep Your Streak Alive

Once you have looked at the above clues, youcan check out the following category namesto figure the rest of the puzzle out.

NYT game Spelling Bee from mobile app for newspaper

EASY ___

TENDER

TOUCHING

I did not get this category until much later in the puzzle, which is always a very weird feeling for me. For whatever reason, these words did not stand out to me when I was looking at the puzzle. However, with only 8 words left something seemed to click with I saw TENDER and TOUCHING. After that, the only word that could possibly belong here that did not was LISTENING, and that one was fairly easy to eliminate. Sometimes things just take a minute to click and that is totally fine.

IMPRESSION

SENSE

I had a sneaking suspicion that this category was exactly what I imagined when I saw HUNCH and SENSE. It did not take me very long to spot this one, as opposed to the first category. Once I saw those two, my eye also caught IMPRESSION and FEELING.While FEELING could have gone with some of the other “senses” words like TOUCHING or HEARING, it was not hard to put it here once I grouped the other three. However, those words can be red herrings if you are not paying attention, so be careful when you guess.

12 Letter Boxed Strategies To Win Quickly

The Letter Boxed game for the New York Times mobile app asks you to connect letters to form words while using various strategies to win quickly.

PROCEEDING

TRIAL

I got this one second after eliminating FEELING from the potential pool of categories after that. I looked at HEARING to see what else it might go with, as LISTENING was a big possibility. However, as I was looking I spotted INQUIRY, and from there it was just a matter of finding the other two words. It didn’t take long, asnothing else sounded remotely like a legal matter. However, when I finished this one I was left with the remaining 8 words that I had to come back to later to solve.

MONEY

STREET

If you are looking for Easy MONEY, Connections is probably not the place to find it. However, I did find it when I was solving the last bit of this puzzle. I am not entirely sure what Easy CHAIR is, becausemy first thought upon seeing the category was that it should have been Easy Bake Oven. This is a truly unfortunate absence from the puzzle, and I am sad that it was not included. However, I can see where that might have been too big of a clue for those familiar with them.
