Today’s Connections Category Hints

FEBRUARY 28 #628

Today’s puzzle I found to be a medium difficulty. It is not too difficult but it also has some places where I had to think about it. It also seems like they love the extremely long category names lately, and there is a category today that might beat out the previously super long one. It’s not very helpful when you have small boxes to put them in. But my problems are not yours, because I have some clues for you to let you breeze through the rest of this puzzle.

Wordle History: Today’s Answer & All Past Words

Wordle is a simple daily word game that has taken the internet by storm. With only 6 chances to get the right answer, players may need a little help.

If you are still struggling to get these categories nailed down, knowing what their names arewill help a great deal. Use the names in the boxes below to help yourself out, and if that’s not enough, scroll further down to the spoilers.

The words

WAVER

YO-YO

This one I was able to get quickly, as WAVER and WAFFLE caught my attention after staring at the puzzle for a few moments. It wasn’t the easiest of yellow categories, but neither was it the hardest. If there had been any other words that I could see going with YO-YO,things might not have ended as well as they did. I am not sure if I would use this as a word to describe someone’s indecisiveness myself, but I can see why someone else would. Luckily, I did not HESITATE long, and I finished this category up and moved on.

DOLL

PEACH

This one was a little harder for me to get, and I believe I got it second to last. It was mainly due to the variety of the words, as while they all refer to the same thing, they also all have a different meaning as well. There are, in fact, a lot of possibilities for each of those words, but it became clear as the puzzle went on that none of them really matched anything else. Knowing that, I was able to spot that they could all be pet names for another person.

SENSE

WITS

I expected these to be in a category that was about completing a phrase. Given I was wrong, I still pleasantly got the right answer since I was in the right ballpark. MARBLES is likely the tricky word here,as it’s the most metaphorical word for the human MIND. However, I also feel like it is used enough as a metaphor that most people are likely familiar with it, but I could just be surrounded by people who really like MARBLES.

GENIE

TOOTHPASTE

If you want to find a good metaphor, there are several good options listed in this category. It is an incredibly long name for a category, and I feel like that’s been a running theme often lately. However, if you need a description of these metaphors, which I never thought I did,the category name does explain it well. I like “letting the GENIE out of the bottle” best, but I have heard or used all of them at one point.
