Call of Dutyis a long-running franchise that continues to dominate sales charts year after year, and now, new rating classifications indicate that remasters of two beloved titles from the series are coming to modern platforms. The recentModern Warfarereboot subseries aimed to bring elements of the classic trilogy to a more modern audience, but it received a somewhat mixed reception despite high sales. As reported byInsider Gaming, remasters ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2(2009) andModern Warfare 3(2011)may be on the way after ratings appeared for the two titles from the Australian Classification Board. The titles have been listed “MW2- PS5 Cross-Gen Edition” and “MW3 - Cross-Gen Edition” by the Board. Both have been given a 2025 production date, and both games were given MA 15+ ratings.

Remasters ofCall of Duty 4: Modern WarfareandModern Warfare 2have already been released, but theMW2remaster did not include the game’s multiplayer, while theCall of Duty 4remaster did. Call Of Duty Remasters Need Multiplayer To Gain Interest
Call of Duty Is Almost Synonymous With Multiplayer
Call of Duty’s impressive sales figures arguably stem from how popular the multiplayer offerings are for the series. WithCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remasteredfeaturing the game’s iconic multiplayer and the following remaster,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, only offering the game’s campaign, the remasters have been inconsistent thus far. Butthese alleged remasters need multiplayer to gain interestand satisfy their audience.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis still popular and free-to-play, and withSeason 3 ofWarzonereturning to its original map, a lot of fans may need to be convinced to drop it or the recently releasedBlack Ops 6to purchase and return to these alleged remasters. Adding multiplayer would be the best way to do it. Both of the Australian Classification Board ratings for these new rumored remasters mention “online interactivity,” and theMW3one mentions “in-game purchases” as well, so it would be little surprise if these newCall of Dutyremasters do exist and will feature some multiplayer elements.
