As the Sovereign plots his next move, he doesn’t fear being attacked because the villains by his side have already incapacitated Wonder Woman before. The Titans' Leader Prevails Against a Powerful Wonder Woman Foe
Underestimating Donna Troy Was the Sovereign’s Biggest Mistake
One of Wonder Woman’s strongest rogues,Giganta, is the victim of Donna Troy’s ambush. She is in the process of leaving the Sovereign’s residence when Donna’sLasso of Persuasionsuddenly gets tossed around her next. Unlike Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth, this enchanted rope has the ability to compel others to obey commands against their will.Donna cleverly uses this power to order Giganta to increase her size, and in doing so, the villain reduces a portion of the Sovereign’s estate to rubble. Her infiltration is a success, and it shows that the Sovereign made a mistake in not recognizing her as a threat.
Wonder Woman’s All-Amazon Justice League Is Finally Here, And We’re Obsessed
After the bombshells dropped in Wonder Woman #14, Diana’s life is filled with new challenges. Luckily, she won’t be facing these obstacles alone.
TheSovereignindirectly causes this attack to take place because he fails to take the proper precautions against invaders. Because the villains he enlists have taken down Wonder Woman before, he concludes that they can take down her allies with ease. This assumption turns out to be misguided, sinceWonder Woman has formed a new teamspecifically to take the Sovereign down.Donna and her fellow Wonder Girls are more powerful than they’re given credit for, as evidenced by her swift victory here. After all, even Wonder Woman herself has struggled against Giganta in recent memory.

Donna Troy Holds Her Own Against Wonder Woman’s Rogues, Proving They’re Equals
The Original Wonder Girl May Even Be Surpassing Wonder Woman
As laughable as the Sovereign underestimating Donna Troy is from a reader’s perspective, considering she’s strong enough tolead the Titansin DC’s current status quo, he has his reasons for believing Wonder Woman’s enemies could have made quick work of her. InWonder Woman#6, the Sovereign first forms his army of villains to incapacitate Diana so he can capture her. Giganta is part of this roster, and she makes a formidable opponent for the Amazon. Wonder Woman brings Giganta down, but she requires extraordinary effort to win and is significantly weakened by their showdown.
Wonder Woman’s epic battle against Giganta - and the rest of her rogues - is collected inWonder Woman Vol. 1: Outlawby Tom King and Daniel Sampere, available now from DC Comics!

Wonder Woman’s difficulty with battling Giganta serves as a stark contrast to Donna’s easy defeat of the villain. Of course, much of that can be attributed to the circumstances of their fights. Diana, for instance, was ambushed herself and had to make do without a strategy on her side. Adversely, Donna was the one instigating the ambush in her confrontation, so she was able to gain the upper hand without issue. Regardless of their differing circumstances, however,Donna Troy overcoming Giganta has nonetheless solidified that she is Wonder Woman’s equal and should be regarded as such.

The Titans' Leader Needs the Same Treatment as the Justice League’s Trinity
Although Donna Troy has stepped up to command the Titans, she still hasn’t earned the recognition of those around her. The Sovereign underestimates her, andTitans teammateshave yet to fully accept her as the new top dog. Donna should be to the Titans whatWonder Woman is to the Justice Leagueas part of its leading Trinity, but villains and heroes alike refuse to acknowledge her immense potential. This formerWonder Girldeserves to be feared and respected as much asWonder Womanis, and those who don’t offer theTitans' leader that treatment will inevitably face the same reality check as the Sovereign.
