Warning! This article contains spoilers for Cobra Kai season 6, part 2.
Cobra Kaiseason 6’s part 2 introduces a new Sekai Taikai competitor, the Iron Dragon team, which blows all competition out of the water. The students of Miyagi Do and Cobra Kai dojos knew that competing at an international tournament would be far more challenging than fighting at the local All-Valey. However, they only realize the true extent of the challenge when they arrive at Sekai Taikai’s venue and compete with other teams.

Both dojos struggle to find their place among the top teams in the competition. However, through sheer determination and hard work, they eventually rank among the top contenders. While Miyagi do and Cobra Kai teams nearly get knocked out of the competition, one dojo breezes through the tournament. The Iron Dragon team, led by Sensei Wolf, includes two incredibly strong fighters who make it nearly impossible for any other dojo to claim the top spot atCobra Kaiseason 6’s Sekai Taikai tournament.
Iron Dragon Team’s Sensei Wolf Explained
Lewis Tan Plays Sensei Wolf In Cobra Kai
Sensei Wolf is introduced as one of the mainvillains inCobra Kaiseason 6. The show reveals that he isa three-time world champion and started the Iron Dragons dojo. His dojo won the previous Sekai Taikai tournament, and, as the defending champions, they were directly selected as one of the competitors for the tournament. However, Sensei Wolf’s gambling habit got the best of him, leading him to lose his money and ticket to compete at the Sekai Taikai.
Is The Sekai Taikai Real? Cobra Kai Season 6’s Karate Tournament Explained
Cobra Kai’s Sekai Taikai tournament is said to be the most prestigious karate competition in the world. But does it exist in real-life?
Although Sensei Kim runs the Iron Dragons dojo, his teaching philosophies are not too different from those of Terry Silver and John Kreese. Like the stapleKarate Kidvillains, he is often a little too harsh on his students and enforces a strong regimen during the tournament. Instead of encouraging and fueling them with positive words like Daniel LaRusso, Sensei Wolf also often resorts to insults and tries to bring out the worst in his students. FromCobra Kaiseason 6 part 2’s opening moments, Sensei Wolf crosses paths with Johnny Lawrence and instantly lands in his crosshairs.

Unlike the students from the Miyagi Do and Cobra Kai dojo, who strictly adhere to Tang Soo Do, the ones in Sensei Wolf’s dojo seem to adopt a more well-rounded MMA style of fighting.
Played by Lewis Tan, Sensei Wolf seems to adopt a mix of martial arts styles, including Muay Thai, Kung Fu, and Ju-Jitsu. Unlike the students from the Miyagi Do and Cobra Kai dojo, who strictly adhere to Tang Soo Do, the ones in Sensei Wolf’s dojo seem to adopt a more well-rounded MMA style of fighting. Sensei Wolf’s methods of teaching are questionable, but his students turn out to be thestrongest contenders in the Sekai Taikai tournament.

How Terry Silver Became The Iron Dragon Team’s Benefactor
He Helped Sensei Wolf Get His Dojo Back Before The Sekai Taikai
A newspaper clipping inCobra Kaiseason 6’s part 2 reveals that Terry Silver was sent to prison afterCobra Kaiseason 5’s ending. However, with his influence and legal backing, he managed to get out without facing any serious consequences. To his dismay, though,Cobra Kaiseason 5’s events tainted his reputation in the valley, forcing him to work from the shadows to inflict revenge on Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. As a flashback inCobra Kaiseason 6’s part 2 reveals, Terry Silver traced Sensei Wolf and found him cage fighting in Thailand.

Realizing that Sensei Kim was in dire need of money,Terry Silver helped him get his dojo back by paying off his gambling debtsand prompting him to compete at the Sekai Taikai tournament. Technically, Silver only serves as an investor for the Iron Dragons team and does not exactly own the reigning champions. However, given that the dojo has only been able to compete because of him, its win against Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do at the Sekai Taikai would be seen as a victory for him.
The Captains Of Cobra Kai’s Iron Dragon Team Explained
Axel Kovacevic & Zara Malik Are The Leading Contenders From The Iron Dragon Team
Like every other dojo competing at the Sekai Taikai tournament, the Iron Dragon also has six members. However, as seen inCobra Kaiseason 6’s part 2,all other members take a back seat while only the captains, Axel Kovacevic and Zara Malik, dominate all rounds of the tournament. Even in the tournament’s opening round, the other four members stand up and leave, allowing Axel and Zara to fight against all six Cobra Kai team members. Portrayed by Patrick Luwis, Axel Kovacevic is introduced as an overpowered fighter who single-handedly beats more than one opponent at once.
21-year-old American-born Rayna Vallandingham, who plays Zara inCobra Kaiseason 6, is a real-life martial artist, holding the record of being the youngest martial artist to win 13 world championships.
Unlike most Cobra Kai and Miyagi Dojo students, Axel seems to have trained all his life and overpowers almost all his opponents with ease even when they outnumber him. Outside the fighting mat, Zara Malik presents herself as a laidback social media influencer and spends most of her time behind her phone’s screen. However, as her fights establish, she is no less overpowered than Axel. Played by Rayna Valladingham, Zara specifically targets Tory and promises to beat her in every showdown.
Where Is The Iron Dragons Team From In Cobra Kai
The Martial Arts Team Hails From Hong Kong
AlthoughCobra Kaidoes not incline too much towards themes of nationalism, it establishes that Sensei Wolf and his team are from Hong Kong. Wolf takes a particular dislike towards Johnny Lawrence and his American students, claiming that they are all lazy and undisciplined. Even when he interacts with his students inCobra Kaiseason 6’s part 2, he switches between English and Mandarin. Since the show does not delve too deep into exploring the team’s Chinese origins, it remains a mystery how Axel and Zara earned their spots as the team’s captains.
Dennis de Guzman’s Role In The Iron Dragon Team Explained
The Character Was First Seen in The Karate Kid Part III
WilliamChristopher Ford’s Dennis de Guzman, who was also a part ofThe Karate Kid Part III’s roster, makes a surprising appearance inCobra Kaiseason 6’s part 2. Whilehe was one of Mike Barnes' henchmen in the thirdKarate Kidmovie, he shows up as one of Terry Silver’s minions in Cobra Kai season 6. Although he is not an active sensei for the Iron Dragon dojo and does not even own it like Terry Silver, he helps orchestrate Daniel LaRusso’s kidnapping, which was supposed to help Silver take down Miyagi Do and ensure Iron Dragon’s win at the Sekai Taikai.
Why Iron Dragon’s Fighters Are So Much Stronger Than Everyone Else
They Have Been Training Far Longer Than Most Other Fighters
Iron Dragon’s Axel Kovacevic and Zara Malik seem leagues above all fighters competing at the Sekai Taikai. Even the most talented fighters, like Kwon, Yoon, Tory, and Miguel are not able to inflict any harm on them during fights. The primary reason behind their fighting prowess is that they have been in the game far longer than most other fighters. While Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do fighters were busy competing in the local All-Valley tournament, the Iron Dragon students took home the Sekai Taikai international tournament.
Cobra Kaiseason 6’s part 3 is scheduled to be released on Netflix on June 19, 2025.
Cobra Kaiseason 6’s part 2 does not show how Sensei Wolf trains his other students. However, when it comes to Axel, the show clearly establishes that he pushes him to the limits and ensures he leaves no room for error. Sensei Wolf’s intense methods not only keep Axel disturbingly disciplined but also seemingly make him invincible against otherCobra Kaicharacters.
