What Happened in The Elusive Samurai Episode #5?
Not the Last Tokiyuki Will See of Sadamune
The archery challenge fromThe Elusive Samuraiepisode #4was appropriately exciting, with Tokiyuki being coached by Yorishige to adopt an offense-in-retreat mentality. This is especially key as Sadamune knew he’d only lose if Tokiyuki, under his Chojumaru pseudonym, were to shoot Sadamune in the head at least once so he would stay close to the young archer’s blind spot. But this would result in the debut of one of Tokiyuki’s new techniques, the Parthian Shot, inspired by the real historical Parthian Empirewho overwhelmed the Roman Empire by continuously attacking them while retreating, using horse-powered mobility advantageously.
Despite the order being presented in writing, Yorishige is undeterred from defending Tokiyuki, prompting the recruitment of a new, seedier element to the Elusive Warriors.

This results in a narrow 1-point victory for Tokiyuki as he victoriously sails over Sadamune before turning around and taking a shot at his head, ending the game. The humiliation results in Sadamune angrily plotting a return, promptly coming to Suwa Grand Shine on another date with an imperial order, declaring Suwa traitors for harboring Hojo fugitives. Despite the order being presented in writing, Yorishige is undeterred from defending Tokiyuki, prompting the recruitment of a new, seedier element to the Elusive Warriors.
Genba Kazama, an unscrupulous young masked thief, is approached by Tokiyuki, demanding only money as his predecessor taught him. The Hojo scion, merely relieved the thief wasn’t asking for an entire province as payment, was grateful and took Genba aboard for the dangerous mission wherethe pair would have to infiltrate Sadamune’s territory and steal the imperial order. During this mission, it’s revealed that Sukefusa Ichikawa, an immensely talented tracker and interrogator, hears the infiltrators in the storehouse, alerting the retainers and preparing for the hunt inThe Elusive Samuraiepisode #6.

An Archer and a Tracker Team Up in The Elusive Samurai Episode #6
Hear No Evil, See No Evil
Unsurprisingly,The Elusive Samuraiepisode #6 will feature Sukefusa catching onto Tokiyuki and Genba’s movements despite the best efforts of the Elusive Warriors to throw them off their trail. Sukefusa even nearly kills one of them, but Tokiyuki’s environmental awareness and commitment to never abandon his allies save both their lives. But the most interesting part of this upcoming episode is thatSadamune joins with Sukefusa, making a lethal combination as they search for the thieves.
With Sukefusa’s monstrous ears able to pick up even the subtlest movement and Sadamune’s lethal archery prowess now uninhibited, using live arrows, the Elusive Warriors will have the closest brush with death yet.Genba, recognizing his debt to Tokiyuki, will take action to push back their pursuers with a bold play with the intent to stop them in their tracks.InThe Elusive Samuraiepisode #6, the great heist will have an explosive finish.
