The Masters of Evil are a classic Marvel fixture, who’re usually formed as a direct supervilainous response to the Avengers. There are at least ten different incarnations of the villains, but this new roster is one of the wildest yet. The new team includes MODOK, Doctor Octopus, Baron Mordo, the Goblin Queen, Mysterio and Arcade. This is a mix of sorcerers, illusionists and mad scientists. A few of them areworld-threatening villains in their own right, and a few are bit-players, buttheir combination of skills might be exactly what’s needed to take down someone as versatile as Doctor Doom.
Doctor Doom Is Going to Be a Very Different MCU Villain and Here’s Why
The MCU has had a lot of different villains over the years, but Doctor Doom seems to be after something no other MCU villain has cared about.
It might seem like an odd mix, but all these villains have some expertise that could help against Doom. Arcade and Mysterio are experts at illusions and animatronics. If Doom is using Doombots to infiltrate world governments, something the Avengers suspect, but can’t prove, then these villains will know. Meanwhile, Doc Ock and MODOK are close to Doom’s equal in scientific genius if they put their heads together. Finally, Mordo and the Goblin Queen aresorcerers to rival Doctor Strange, which mean they can rival Doom, who has currentlyusurped Strange’s role as Sorcerer Supreme.

There Are Currently Two “Masters Of Evil” Teams Operating In The Marvel Universe Right Now
The Second Team Aren’t Even Slightly Heroic
At the exact same time that this team is forming, there is alsoanother Masters of Evil roster who are about to attack the Avengers. The upcoming arc of writer Jed MacKay’sAvengersis set to debutanother completely separate Masters of Evil. This team consists of Madcap, Mister Hyde, Dreadknight, Exerminatrix and the Mad Thinker; though they aren’t exactly heavy-hitters, together they still pose a significant threat to the Avengers. Anything is possible with both of these teams moving forward; perhaps theAvengersown Masters of Evil will even end up fighting this new team for the greater good.
