Various stars fromThe Acolytehave shared their thoughts in the weeks and months since theStar WarsTV show’s cancelation, andCarrie-Anne Mossis the next to discuss how this cancelation has affected her. Moss' role was vital to the story ofThe Acolyte, but because her character died in the show’s very first scene, she was not expected to return, even ifThe Acolyteseason 2did happen. Despite this, Moss still had a starring role in two flashback episodes, which tied her deeper into the story - and no doubt drew her closer to the show itself.
Now,ComicBook.comhas given Moss the chance to reflect on whatThe Acolyte’s cancelation means for her. Moss first insists that “being an actor, you’re in shows all the time that are canceled and it’s in the beginning, it’s kind of a bummer, and then you just learn to not really be invested,” citing this thought process as “a protection mechanism.” She then goes on to remind everyone thatbecause of her character’s death, she had already coped with not returning, and thus wasn’t reading into season 2’s fate, until she “heard [the cancelation news] from a dad at school.”

So I didn’t even, I mean I died, so I was like I love everybody, but I didn’t, and I didn’t read about it. I heard from, like, a dad at school, and I was already working on something else. So it’s sort of like, oh, okay.It was over already for me. I don’t know, maybe that’s… I’m glad you liked it though. Yeah, I, I really enjoyed doing that too.
What Carrie-Anne Moss' Thoughts About The Cancelation Mean For The Acolyte
Season 2 Was Always An If, Not A When
It’s not a huge surprise that Moss wasn’t as engaged in the fate ofThe Acolyteseason 2, givenMaster Indara’s early death in the TV show. It is, however, a shock to hear that she had to hear this news from someone completely random, and not from anyone who was actually involved in the show. Despite the way Moss has steeled herself from the disappointment of TV shows being canceled, this no doubt had to hurt, even if she knew she would never be returning for another chapter of the story.
Why It’s A Huge Mistake Disney Canceled The Acolyte Season 2
The Acolyte season 2 has officially been scrapped, which may have actually hurt the Star Wars franchise.
What it does seem to prove is thatThe Acolytewas never guaranteed a second season, even if all of its cast and crew were hoping for it.If Moss was already prepared for a reality whereThe Acolytewouldn’t continue, then there must have been an indication that that could be a possibility. Given the way things left off at theend ofThe Acolyte, evidently waiting for a follow-up to tie its loose ends together, this is truly a curious thing. A story with that kind of ending should have been given the security to go on.

Moss May Not Have Been The Only Actor Prepared For A Cancelation
There Are Indications She Wasn’t The Only One
Moss speaks of the “protection mechanism” of preparing herself for a cancelation as something that many actors practice, which likely means that she wasn’t the only one who had prepared herself for this kind of fate. While other stars have openly expressed their disappointment, such as Lee Jung-jae and Amandla Stenberg, they have each also provided just enough context that shows they were ready for this to happen, especially knowing how the greater audience has operated in recent times. Unfortunately,The Acolyte’s cancelation didn’t seem to be a major shock for its stars, which is even more heartbreaking.
