Though Stallone remains best known for his on-screen work, he also boasts an impressive career behind the camera.Stallone’s first major screenplay credit is, of course, for 1976’sRocky, for which he was nominated for an Oscar. That film ended up with two major wins at the Academy Awards that year, including Best Picture and Best Director for John G. Avildsen. Stallone would also write all fiveRockysequels, as well as 2018’sCreed II.

Stallone also notably has screenplay credits on films likeFirst Blood(1982),Rambo: First Blood Part II(1985),Cobra(1986),Cliffhanger(1993),The Expendables(2010), andHomefront(2013). Stallone’s most recent screenplay credit is for his swan song as Rambo with 2019’sRambo: Last Blood. Other than one episode of a 1973 show calledThe Evil Touch,Tulsa Kingseason 2 will mark Stallone’s first major writing credit on a TV show.

With theTulsa Kingseason 1 finalesetting up a tense season 2, it could be good news that Stallone has become involved in the writing process. To come on as a writer, Stallone evidently feels passionate about his character and about the show at large, and his desire to help steer the series forward could suggest that he’s hoping to stick around for a potential season 3. It remains to be seen howTulsa Kingseason 2 will compare to season 1, but the premiere and the finale are evidently now episodes to look out for.

Tulsa Kingseason 2 premieres on Paramount Plus on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in the U.S. and Canada, with the international premiere coming one day later on Monday, September 16.
