During chapter #197 of theDragon Ballmanga, Raditz reveals the reason why he sought out his long-lost brother after more than 20 years. Kakarot’s brother informed the Z Fighters that his group, which consisted of Vegeta, Nappa, and himself, was trying to conquer a very sought-after planet. While not as powerful as a Saiyan on their own, the combined power of the inhabitants of this planet could have defeated the three prideful warriors on their own.Raditz told his brother that they needed his strengthto completely overwhelm this mysterious alien species.
As it is well known, Kakarot rejected his brother’s offer, which led to an intense and emotional battle between the siblings, Piccolo, and a young Gohan. After the fight was over, the threat of Vegeta and Nappa arriving at Earth in a year became the main concern of the series’ heroes. Due to this,the mysterious planet that the Saiyan warriors were trying to conquer has remained a mysteryfor decades. This plot line has never been spoken about again, not even by Vegeta himself. This powerful species, capable of scaring even a Saiyan, is likely to remain one of the series’ greatest enigmas.
The Mystery Could Have Already Been Solved
Fans Speculate That Planet Yardrat Could Have Been Vegeta’s Target
Despite chapter #197’s mysterious species never being revealed in the series, fans of Akira Toriyama’s beloved franchise speculate thatit could have been the Yardrats. These beings are not particularly powerful on their own, butthe Yardrats know many strange techniquesthat can help them increase their power level significantly. They have taught Goku and Vegeta on more than one occasion throughout the series, proving that Planet Yardrat would not have been defenseless against the Saiyans. The Saiyan Prince also seemed to know a vast amount of information about the Yardrats, even though he had never visited them before.
It is unlikely that the truth behind which planet Raditz was talking about will ever be revealed. The most likely explanation is that Toriyama needed a reason for Raditz to suddenly seek Goku after so many years, and he forgot about it later. Nonetheless, theorizing about what alien species could have posed a challenge to the proud Saiyan race could prove an interesting challenge toDragon Ballfans.
