In a recent interview withScreen Rantto promote his new Apple TV+ show,Lady in the Lake, Gelman shares an update on the status ofStranger Thingsseason 5. While the actor is careful not to reveal any secrets from the upcoming season, he does tease thataudiences will very much enjoy the episodes to come. Check out his comment below:

“Filming is going great. I think you’ll learn in the same way that everybody’s learned in the past, you’ll probably get some teasers, a couple teasers, and then, the big way you’ll find out what’s going to happen is the show. It’s, obviously, the most secretive thing I’ve ever worked on, but I think the fans — you included — will be very happy with season five.
“Usually, like you, they’re very understanding and they understand my position, so it’s fine. A lot of people don’t want to know, a lot of people want to be surprised, but they’re eager. It’s hard. It’s gonna be a minute, probably, until it comes out.”

What’s Next For Murray In Stranger Things Season 5?
Bret Gelman’s Character Has Become A Key Figure In The Show
Murray first appears as part of theStranger Thingscastof characters in season 2, serving as Hawkins' kooky conspiracy theorist who actually ends up being right about a Russian spy presence in the town. Murray plays a larger role in each subsequent season, and the character is ultimately crucial to rescuing Hopper in season 4. While there are no obvious teases for what will come next for the character, he is sure to play an important role in the episodes to come.
Gelman is also known for his roles inThe Other Guys,A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, andFleabag.

TheStranger Thingsseason 4 finalesees Hopper back in the U.S. and reunited with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the rest of the gang, with Murray presumably also leaving the Soviet Union. The finale also, however, sees Vecna succeed in his plan to open portals to the Upside Down in Hawkins, and one of the last images of season 4 is of the town essentially being taken over. With his unique skill set and newfound experience in fighting Demogorgons,Murray can obviously hold his own as the Upside Down unleashes monstrous creatures into the real world.
4 Reasons Stranger Things’ Murray Is The Real Hero Of Hawkins
Stranger Things’ Murray is Hawkins’ resident conspiracy theorist. However, his unique understanding of the world makes him the real hero of Hawkins.
Murray has also been a continuous source of comic relief inStranger Things, and it’s likely this will continue in season 5. While he’s particularly funny when interacting with the show’s younger cast members, season 4 saw him spend a great deal of time with Joyce (Winona Ryder), and he could be more involved in the “adult” storylines in season 5. Many questions still remain aboutStranger Thingsseason 5 and Murray’s role moving forward, but audiences are evidently in for an exciting conclusion to the hit Netflix show.
