Andorseason 2 will officially feature yet another return fromRogue One: A Star Wars Story. The marketing forAndorseason 2 has made it pretty clear this show is strongly tied toRogue One- not least because it features so many returning characters. Even Ben Mendelsoh’sOrson Krennic is set to return inAndorseason 2. But it turns out there’s another return - of an iconic location set to appear on-screen for the first time sinceRogue One.

The newAndorseason 2 trailershows a shot of Saw Gerrera in a very familiar location - his Partisan camp on the sacred Temple Moon of Jedha. He’s looking out at Jedha City, where you’re able to see an Imperial Star Destroyer hovering over the buildings. It seems we’re returning to one of the most fascinating new locations introduced inRogue One- especially exciting given how Jedha has been developed in other mediums since then.

Jedha Has Become One Of The Most Important Locations In Star Wars

It Was Once Home To The Jedi Order

Jedha has appeared in countlessStar Warsstories since its introduction inRogue One, playing a key role inStar Wars: The High RepublicPhase II and theJedi: Survivorgame. Jedha is avergence in the Force, one of the most important in the history of the galaxy; in fact, it was once home to the Jedi Order, who lived in the main city before they eventually moved to Coruscant. A sacred place, it is revered by countless Force cults - including, of course, theGuardians of the Whills.

Only two members of the Guardians were still alive by the time ofRogue One- Donnie Yen’s Chirrut Imwe and Wen Jiang’s Baze Malbus. Before then, though, the Guardians had a good relationship with the Jedi; they had worked together on many occasions, able to cooperate despite their different traditions and beliefs. It is so tragic that the Guardians of the Whills were wiped out by the Empire.

Will Andor Season 2 Feature The Return Of Chirrut & Baze?

The Possibility Can’t Be Ruled Out

This certainly raises the possibility of anotherRogue Onecameo inAndorseason 2: the Guardians of the Whills themselves. We’re clearly going to see Forest Whittaker’s Saw Gerrera base himself on Jedha, and the Guardians had a very tense relationship with the rebel. As seen in Greg Rucka’sGuardians of the Whills, Chirrut and Baze felt that Saw went too far - and they certainly had a point, as that book sees Saw use children as weapons against the Empire.

I’d love to see more of Chirrut and Baze. For years there were rumors that they would get prequel stories of their own, but those seem to have come to nothing. It can only be hoped thatAndorseason 2 will scratch that particular itch.
