Elliott Stabler is going undercover while investigating a very dangerous case in a new trailer forLaw & Order: Organized Crimeseason 5. Originally airing on NBC,Law & Order: Organized Crimeseason 5will be the first to be exclusive to Peacock. While the show will premiere on NBC during its release night, new episodes will only be available on the streaming service. The spinoff is also sporting an order of 10 episodes for the season, a far cry from the longer entries the series has enjoyed since season 2.

Now,Peacockhas released a new trailer forLaw & Order: Organized Crimeseason 5,confirming Stabler’s (Christopher Meloni) next mission and the dangerous enemies he’ll be up against. It appears the detective is being targeted by someone watching him walk out of a church, with a car bomb going off in the next scene. He speaks to his son, Eli (Nicky Torchia), about his future before he’s informed a lawless new criminal organization has set up shop in New York City. This prompts him to go undercover in order to investigate.

The trailer offers some information about what criminal activities to expect this time around, including a series of women who were murdered. Plenty of action is promised, as Bobby (Rick Gonzalez) is seen in a house aiming his gun, while later yelling for someone to “stay down” at a subway station. Stabler is seen running, questioning suspects, and possibly being targeted by a shooting, whileJet (Ainsley Seiger) is said to be “in trouble.“The trailer ends with Stabler in the hospital while his mother, Bernie (Ellen Burstyn), speaks to him. What Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5’s Trailer Says About The Show

Plenty Of Action & New Threats Define Its Return

Unlike previous seasons ofLaw & Order: Organized Crime, the show isn’t returning at the same time as other ongoing seriesin the franchise. WhileLaw & Orderseason 24andLaw & Order: SVUseason 26come to a close, season 5 of the Meloni-led series will see its action-packed story only just beginning. The trailer indicates Stabler will be targeted for revenge, yet will also focus on him going undercover for his investigation. This puts him and his family in a dangerous situation as the team tries to uncover what’s going on.

I’m Insulted By NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 Plan On Peacock

After nearly a year off the air, Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 is finally returning on Peacock. However, I’m annoyed with the streamer’s plan.

The trailer makes note of serial murders and the elements of violence that will be involved in the story, emphasized by shots of Stabler looking determined to do whatever it takes to close his case. The description of the trailer confirms the crime family he conflicted with in Rome will be coming after him, though it’s unclear if they’re the new faces in New York City. This means he and his team could be dealing with multiple crime organizations at once, or a connected syndicate with plenty of power that remains to be seen.

Our Take On Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5’s Trailer

Stabler’s Biggest Challenge Is About To Begin

It’s unclear how Stabler’s investigation is going to pan out, especially when it seems many people are going to die before he and his team can stop the crime group. The focus on his family remains important too, as it’s unclear how far his enemies will go in order to get at him. Unlike otherLaw & Ordershows, the serialized format ofOrganized Crimemeans long-standing repercussions can happen at any moment, with its lead protagonist at the center of everything.

Law & Order: Organized Crimepremieres with two episodes Thursday, April 17 on Peacock.
