The newest patch will be released for PC sometime in the week of September 2–9, with Larian Studios announcing the update will come for Mac and consoles later in the year, though the studio did not mention a specific date. Patch 7 promises new content and bug fixes, but is mainly focused on enabling mods for players.Patch 7 is focused on official mod tools,allowing users to modify visuals, animations, and statsthrough supported means, enabling a much greater level of customization.

Improved Evil Endings
The promise of new content with Patch 7 has piqued the interest of players,though these updates are mostly centered around an “evil” playthrough, a fun addition for those who take their character down the villain arc. In the patch’s announcement onSteam, Larian Studios discussed how Patch 7 will “add improved evil endings to the game for even darker conclusions to your most sinister playthroughs, and yes, that includes you non-Durge players.” While this is news to celebrate for theplayers who enjoy the villain or Dark Urge arc, it might not be enough to convince those players, or those that may have opted for a hero playthrough, to open up a new save file.
This will also be the final major update coming from Larian Studios.The announcement concludes with the studio’s decision to seize its own IPs to work with, as opposed to working on more updates or asequel toBladur’s Gate 3.In March 2024, studio head Sven Vincke discussed the decision at Game Developers Conference (viaIGN), noting:
“Another X amount of years, same thing, exactly the same mechanics, same problems that we actually already solved, just evolving them. And then you start looking at the other things that you had planned and pushing them back, and then you’ve come back to your senses, because by then the vulnerability is gone.”

Baldurs Gate 3is an exceedingly popular game that just wrapped up its one-year anniversary. With no sequel planned, Patch 7 could be the last major update players get for a while.Besides the mods and new content, the patch also promises to fix multiple “bug issues.“These fixes include Wyll’s greetings and a disappearing Narrator.
