As perApple,Severanceseason 3 has officially been confirmedhours after the season 2 finale premiered on the platform. Stiller and other team members voiced their excitement, with the former referring toSeveranceas “one of the most creatively exciting experiences [he’s] ever been a part of.” Scott praised the show while making a joke about not telling his innie the news. Creator Dan Erickson was also thrilled, as was Apple TV+ programming head Matt Cherniss. Check out their quotes below:

Stiller: Making ‘Severance’ has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of. While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.
Scott: I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast and crew, Apple and the whole ‘Severance’ team. Oh hey also — not a huge deal — but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.

Erickson: The idea of getting to make more ‘Severance’ with the greatest cast and crew on Earth is more thrilling to me than all the world’s finger traps combined. I can’t wait to continue spreading woe, frolic, dread and malice with these truly incredible people.
Cheriss: What Ben, Dan, Adam and the talented cast and crew behind ‘Severance’ have brought to the screen is undeniable magic. We’re so proud to be the home for this brilliant series and look forward to audiences experiencing what’s in store for Season 3.

What This Means For Severance
Severance Season 3 Was Highly Expected Before This
In many ways, this renewal should come as no surprise. Apple TV+ has previously notedthatSeverancebecame their most-watched series of all time during its second season, surpassing even theacclaimed comedyTed Lasso. The series creators have also talked multiple times about their hopes for season 3 and beyond, with Erickson previously stating that “there is an endpoint for the series as a whole, and we know more or less how many seasons we are going to do.” Even absent the official confirmation, all of this suggested that moreSeverancewas coming after season 2.
THAT Death In Severance Season 2’s Finale & What It Means For Season 3 Explained
Severance season 2, episode 10 includes the death of a major character that will have big ramifications on the story of season 3 and beyond.
Severanceseason 3is also much-needed after the pacing of the sophomore installment. While a lot of character development happened in season 2, the series also took its sweet time building suspense and creating additional mystery. The finale wraps some things up, but there isstill plenty more to be exposed about the testing floor, the goats, and Lumon’s origin. The second season proved that it was not ready to be done yet, especially with how it concluded with another cliffhanger. This includes unanswered questions about Mark, Helly, and Gemma’s fate in the finale, “Cold Harbor.”
I Hope The Season Gap Is Shorter

Severanceis one of the most intriguing shows on television right now, so I am just as excited as anyone that the project is being renewed. My biggest hope, however, is that the season gap can be shorter this time around. Barring any further major Hollywood strikes, there are less likely to be major external barriers in the way of season 3’s development. WithSeverancebeing Apple TV+’s most successful show yet, I am also hopeful that the streamer will sink copious resources into the swift production of season 3.
