They do, however, find themselves working with Mystery Inc. inSupernaturalseason 13’sScooby-Dooepisode, “Scoobynatural.“This installment follows Sam and Dean as they’re transported to the world ofScooby-Doo, with their journey through Dean’s new television even transforming them into animated characters. It’s wildly entertaining and bizarre to watch them interact with the Scooby gang, though after their trips to other parallel universes, it’s not totally surprising. After all, the Winchester brothers and Mystery Inc. have similar professions.

This is an intriguing revelation, and it’s a shame it doesn’t amount to more. With all the meta episodesSupernaturalhas,it would have been on brand for the show to feature a DC crossover. Given the CW had multiple DC shows airing at the same time asSupernatural, it wouldn’t have been difficult to accomplish either. AndSupernaturalhas so many connections to DC that it would have been a hilarious addition to the show.

It would be hilarious to see him actually meet Batman, with the show returning to this reference in a satisfying way. And Ackles himself actually voiced Batman in the Tomorrowverse after portraying Red Hood inBatman: Under the Red Hood.Needless to say, there was plenty of potential for jokes in a crossover between the two shows.
