The first three episodes ofReacherseason 3 prove the celebrated Prime Video series has not lost its touch. Reacher must think on his feet more than ever during the episodes while working undercover for Zachary Beck, the apparent owner of a rug business called Bizzare Bazaar. Reacher befriends Beck’s son, Richard, who is notably scarred after being previously kidnapped. Reacher stages another “kidnapping” with the help of his new DEA pals Susan Duffy, Guillermo Villanueva, and Steven Elliot so that he can swoop in to save the day.
This level of masterful deception is seen throughout the first three episodes ofReacher, titled “Persuader”, “Truckin'”, and “Number 2 with a Bullet”, respectively. In previous seasons,Alan Ritchson’s titular protagonistwasan unstoppable force who could not be contained by any boundary or law, which makes himgoing undercover in season 3 one of the best versions of the classic action hero. Reacher is not only forced to use his experience and tactful knowledge but must also remain incognito under the formidable eyes of Beck, his head of security Chapman Duke, and his gargantuan bodyguard Paulie.

Many of the logical aspects of the series can feel rushed and forced, makingReacher’s character seem more like a machine than a human being. The first three episodes of season 3 are no exception to this, featuring Reacher working his way to being Zachary Beck’s head of security within a matter of days. Overlooking these potentially unrealistic areas of the narrative proves to be the best way to enjoy the show.
