Warning! Spoilers for Outlander season 7, part 2 ahead!

Outlanderseason 7 came with a rather hard-to-watch moment, but the finale made it entirely worth it. The romantacy series has never shied away from spicy moments, and season 7 was no exception. Jamie and Claire are most often at the center of such intimate scenes, and this is all part of what has kept romance fans hooked all these years. Of course, asOutlandergoes on, there are more characters to watch romp between the sheets. In the case of the now grown-up youngsters of the series, this can be a bit uncomfortable.

Jamie and Claireare still going strong inOutlander,of course, but they aren’t the only romance in full swing. Season 7 featured a bit of a love triangle between Ian Murray, Rachel Hunter, and William Ransom, but it all turned out for the better in the end.William began a tragic romance with Jane Pocock, whileIan and Rachel tied the knot in a lovely Quaker weddinginOutlanderseason 7, part 2. Once this pair said their vows, they headed for the bedroom to consummate their marriage. It truly was a sweet step in their relationship—though it was a little uncomfortable to watch.

Ian & Rachel’s Sex Scene Was Hard To Watch In Outlander

It Wasn’t The Usual Spicy Outlander Moment

John Bell and Izzy Meikle-Small gavefantastic performances inOutlanderseason 7. It was quite sweet to see their forbidden romance bloom into something more, and their wedding night together was, in truth, precisely as it should have been. While Rachel is innocent and inexperienced, it’s entirely reasonable that she would be eager to be intimate with her husband. Though Ian has some experience in this area, his gentleness with his new wife is genuinely charming. Still, the Murrays consummating their marriage was a bit tough to watch this season.

Ian was only 14 when he was introduced inOutlanderseason 3, and though this character has grown up and been through a lot, it’s difficult to see him in sex scenes. Season 7 treated Ian and Rachel’s intimate moment together as if they were Jamie and Claire. However, the perspective on these characters has been significantly different.Perhaps it’s because Rachel is a deeply modest and pious character, but her spicy scene with Ian inOutlanderfelt like something audiences shouldn’t have been privy to.

Rachel’s Pregnancy Makes This Uncomfortable Outlander Moment Worth It

This Is Precisely The Ending Ian Deserves

While Rachel and Ian’s sex scene was challenging to watch inOutlander, it was ultimately paid off by the news in season 7’s finale that they are pregnant.Ian has wanted to be a proper father for years. He lost a daughter, and his son is being raised by another man inOutlander. The fact that Rachel became pregnant so quickly in season 7 is certainly a cause for celebration. In all, it’s a sign of just how perfect a match Rachel and Ian are. Their intimacy may be a touch uncomfortable, but their romance is wholesome and unproblematic as a whole. Seeing them get their happy ending inOutlanderseason 8will be entirely worth the journey.
