Aqua and Ruby Make Up For Lost Time
The Siblings Spend A Day Off Together
Oshi no Kohas been no stranger to controversy. Aqua and Ruby become aware of each other’s identities all the way back in chapter #122, finally recognizing the doctor-patient relationship they shared in their previous lives. What followed were some very polarizing chaptersin which Ruby, despite now being related to her past doctor, Aqua, tried to become intimate with him in ways that bordered on uncomfortable. Afterward, the series' focus quickly shifted toward the film they were making, and their relationship fell a bit out of the spotlight.
However, with the Movie Arc having wrapped up and the identity of their father revealed, nearly all major, long-running plot lines have seemingly been resolved. The latest chapter #157 displays a rare opportunity for Aqua and Ruby, two teens working to break into the entertainment industry, to finally have some downtime to spend with one another. It’s sweet, if not a bit cathartic, to see the duo being fully aware of each other’s backstories, and able to just spend a normal day together.

Aqua, whose hatred was fueled by his inability to first save Sarina, and later Ai, seems calmed by now being able to spend time with the former. Ruby, whose hectic idol lifestyle comes with a packed schedule, has found comfort in her ability to lean on her former doctor. The two cook a meal for Miyako and eventually fall asleep together on the couch, capping off their entirely ordinary day.
Peaceful Times Are Uncertain in Oshi no Ko
While times are peaceful now,it can never be certain they will lastin a series likeOshi no Ko. For a series tying up loose ends in its final arc, chapters following characters having ordinary days are not uncommon. The title of this most recent chapter, however, seems to be putting extra emphasis on just how ordinary and wonderful this day is. It is possible that a sort of calm before a storm is currently taking place.
The length ofOshi no Ko’s final arc has not been officially confirmed, and so may continue for however long the writers deem necessary. One of the major unresolved plot points still remaining has to do with Aqua’s love life, the series having hinted towards an eventual relationship with Kana Arima. How Ruby will respond to that sort of development is uncertain. Regardless, with heartwarming chapters like the most recent #157, tranquil days may finally have arrived for the main characters ofOshi no Ko.
