It’s no secret thatObi-Wan Kenobiis an instrumental part of both Luke and Anakin Skywalker’s journeys inStar Wars, and this stunning work of art puts that into a chilling perspective. After Anakin’s fall to the dark side, his former Master took it upon himself to ensure the safety of his children, Luke and Leia. Obi-Wan quietly watched over the twins until it came time for Luke to take up his father’s old lightsaber and join the fight against the dark side.

Darth Vader looms menacingly over the ones he once loved against a harsh red background with his lightsaber ignited. The Skywalker twins stand together under the protective arms of Obi-Wan Kenobi, who reflects the red color of Vader’s saber. Unlike the children, Obi-Wan looks tired and wary of the danger posed by his former friend.Under the protection of Obi-Wan, however, the twins look ahead as though unaware of the difficulties they will one day face.

Obi-Wan Was A Key Part Of The Skywalker Legacy
A true hero to the end
First introduced as an old friend of Luke’s father as well as the teacher of Darth Vader, Obi-Wan played a crucial role in Luke’s inspiration to become a Jedi. His story became ever more complex as George Lucasretconned theStar Warsstory, revealing Darth Vader was Luke’s father; Obi-Wan’s Force Ghost had no choice but admit the truths he’d told Luke were only accurate from a certain point of view. Lucas ultimately told Obi-Wan’s own story in the prequel trilogy.
The Disney era has transformed Obi-Wan into a protector of the entire Skywalker legacy. By theend ofObi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi Master had even protected the young Leia from Darth Vader and his Inquisitors. Obi-Wan’s devotion to Anakin overflowed into the lives of Luke and Leia in such a way that they were empowered to become every bit as worthy of the Skywalker name as their father. In fact, the two children go on to enhance their family legacy inStar Warsthrough their work in the Rebel Alliance and the rebirth and continuation of the Jedi Order.

Obi-Wan’s influence was so profound that Leia even named her son “Ben” in his honor, a beautiful detail that was sadly twisted when Ben Solo too fell to the dark side. In the end, though, Obi-Wan’s legacy would continue to be one of redemption, as theStar Warssequel trilogy ended with Ben returning to the light. It seems like such a fitting way for the story to end.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
The Padawan of Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi became a Jedi Knight after his master’s death. Obi-Wan trained Anakin Skywalker as a Jedi, with his own apprentice knighted after the Battle of Geonosis. The Jedi Master became a key player in the Jedi during the Clone Wars, and was heartbroken when Anakin turned to the dark side; Obi-Wan critically wounded Anakin before taking to the shadows, watching over the young Luke and Leia for years. He sacrificed himself for his two charges, becoming a Force Ghost and continuing to mentor them.
