Black Myth: Wukonghas one rare item that could be a secret treasure, or end up as one of the biggest scams in the game. Secrets in this action RPG are aplenty and can provide some beneficial buffs and hidden lore. However, some are much easier to find than others, like the three bells in Chapter 1. These lead the player to the temple of Elder Jinchi, and defeating him rewards an important Vessel forfighting the Black Bear Guai boss of Chapter 1.
Some of these secrets/rare items can be sold for large amounts of Will at shrines. Will is important throughoutWukongas it will be used to craft armor, staff upgrades, and medicines while also being used as the store currency. Bosses reward the most Will, but it is possible to gather high amounts by farming regular enemies if desired. The best item to sell for Will is Gold Pieces and their various rarities.

Is The Gold Ridge Beast Worth Buying In Black Myth: Wukong?
The Game Gets The Last Laugh
Players should avoid buying the Gold Ridge Beastsold by the Man-In-Stone in Chapter 2. This purchase is a trick by the now-defeated boss and will end up costing users 6,800 Will. These treasures are a good source of Will income, but this is when they are acquired for free and not the 12,800 Will the Man-In-Stone will ask for. Regardless, this is a clever trick by the developers as a way for this mischievous boss to get back at the Destined One after he ruined his plans.
Luckily, there is a way for Gold Ridge Beasts to be found. The caveat to this isthey’re random drops from bosses, which introduces a heavy RNG mechanic. However, it is still a nice bonus when they do drop what is essentially the Will gain equivalent of killing another boss.

Some theories did exist that this item had some secret to it, as many of the special items from quests do, but that seems to be false. It would be interesting to get some kind of bonus quest from this initial one, but the scam is fun too. Given how many opportunities players have to get stronger, having one area where they can fail permanently is a nice touch.
How To Unlock The Man-In-Stone Merchant
Defeating The Mother Of Stones
Though the boss can be killed first, to begin the quest to unlock the Man-In-Stone,travel right from Fright Cliff, Squall Hideout shrine into a small ravine. There will then be a stone yaoguai that will task the players with killing a monster in the caves to the left and retrieving an item from it. Traversing these caves, and fighting a handful of enemies in between, will lead to theMother of Stones boss.
Luckily, this boss is rather easy as, while it does have high defense, it does not move or attack. Instead,it will summon one to two rock enemies from the ground at certain health thresholds. These enemies are fragile but are capable of dealing heavy amounts of damage and constant stagger. The attack to keep a lookout for is when they shoot sharp rocks from the top of their head, as this is continuous and will stun-lock the Destined One.
After defeating the Mother of Stones, players will receive the Stone Essence to bring back to the Man-In-Stone. This will allow him to leave the ground before refusing to give any reward. He can then be challenged as a mini-boss encounter, but is similar to many of the normal rock enemies, just with more health. When he is defeated, he will reward the Azure Dust transformation and become a vendor, the former of which is the more significant reward.
Though the main purpose of this quest is to unlock another of thebest transformations inBlack Myth: Wukong, it is still a nice trick to experience. Features like this in games are just enough to feel bittersweet to the point where one hates that it happens but also laughs that they fell for it. Though the Gold Ridge Beast obtained from the Man-In-Stone inBlack Myth: Wukongis a scam, it is a memorable event in the action RPG.
