Many have already started to hope that some of the previouslyscrappedObi-Wan Kenobiplanswill be reused in season 2, one of which follows a character who could only be portrayed by the star ofThe Book of Boba Fett:Temuera Morrison.The Book of Boba Fett was filmedalmost, if not completely, simultaneously withObi-Wan Kenobi, with the former releasing just a few months prior to the latter. The Book Of Boba Fett Severely Underutilized Temuera Morrison
The main reason behindThe Book of Boba Fett’s criticism is that the live-action TV show’s story severely underutilized Morrison and, as a result, Boba Fett’s entire character.Morrison himself has expressed his frustration with this in the years since, on one occasion even citing that he had tried to advocate for having Boba speak less because the amount of dialogue didn’t feel fitting for his character. This writing, amongst other things, was a big reason whyThe Book of Boba Fettfelt like a major disservice to both Morrison and Boba - though one other issue truly nailed it home.

Although viewers were left disappointed by The Book of Boba Fett, many are hoping to see Temuera Morrison return as the legendary bounty hunter.

Bringing Cody Back Has Many Advantages
Now, there’s a way to bring Morrison back toStar Warsin another major role that he himself has wanted to play again: Commander Cody. The fan-favorite clone, who made his first appearance inStar Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sithwith Morrison in the role, was originally planned to be a part ofObi-Wan Kenobi’s story in its earliest drafts. Ever since then, there have been various possibilities behind why Cody was scrapped from the end result, but the most likely of these is because Morrison was too preoccupied with filmingThe Book of Boba Fett.
Scrapped Obi-Wan Kenobi Plot Would Finally Bring Closure To Revenge Of The Sith’s Order 66
Obi-Wan Kenobi never fully recovered from Order 66, but an abandoned plotline could give him a chance to heal and reunite with an old friend.
No longer doesStar Warshave that problem, andthe scrapped Cody plot is something the audience has long since been asking for, anyway. This storyline would have seen Commander Cody on Tatooine with Obi-Wan, watching over him as another layer of protection. Things would have to adjust for the events ofObi-Wan Kenobiseason 1 taking place, but essentially, Cody would fret over Obi-Wan’s safety as a part of him trying to deal with the guilt he has from attempting to kill Obi-Wan duringOrder 66. This is something that can certainly be used and reworked in season 2.
There are, of course, other reasons why Cody should be a part of this story. For one, the dynamic between Obi-Wan and Cody is largely unexplored in live-action, whereas inStar Wars: The Clone Wars, it’s easy to see how closely the pair have bonded. This offers McGregor and Morrison a chance to recreate that bond in live-action, with the added context of Order 66 already having happened.In an era where clone stories are more revered and more important than ever, it seems reasonable for Cody to reenter the scene- especially with Morrison in the role.
Bringing Temuera Morrison Back As Cody Will Give Him Proper Justice
He Deserves Another Chance To Shine
By bringing Commander Cody intoObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2,Star Warswould not only be fulfilling a previously scrapped story idea that audiences love, but they would also be doing right by Morrison at long last. Morrison would have a chance to shine inStar Warsagain, even if it is still under the umbrella of Obi-Wan’s story. Cody is already such a beloved character, and with Morrison being the first to ever portray him,it would be the perfect justice for Morrison to revive that role again and be on the receiving end ofStar Warsfans' glowing enthusiasm.
This wouldn’t be fan service, because it makes sense in-universe. Cody’s whereabouts during the era ofObi-Wan Kenobihave been, no doubt, purposely left undecided following the character’s most recent appearance inStar Wars: The Bad Batchseason 2. The events of the animated series saw Cody finally confront his disillusionment with the Empire, and after the mission that fully breaks through to him, he goes AWOL. To have him appear in a potentialObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2 would not only help to explain his fate, but it would also enhance his character arc.

Commander Cody went on to serve the Galactic Empire for years after Palpatine’s Order 66 turned the clone troopers against the Jedi.
Above all else, however,Morrison truly deserves this chance more than anything. IfStar Warshas the opportunity to do right by Morrison and give him the proper justice in this role, then they should. It’s hard to imagine anyone complaining at the idea of Commander Cody being folded into Obi-Wan’s story, even with the wayObi-Wan Kenobiseason 1 ended. Morrison has already expressed his own willingness to return for this specific role, one he has also extended to Captain Rex. It’s certainly the right move, then, forObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2 to bring Morrison’s Cody back to live-action.
