One of the things that makesNarutosuch a great series is its complicated system of clans. Each clan has its own role in the community, its own way of treating its members, and its own signature jutsu. But keeping track of the clans and their members is hard work for even the most dedicated fans - especially when the members appear across the manga, anime, light novels, and sequels.
TheUchiha clanis one of the most important ones in the series. They were involved with the founding of Konohagakure, but they suffered from the “Curse of Hatred” - that is, they were capable of deep love, but that love could easily turn into hatred and self-interest. Tobirama Senju didn’t trust them, and relegated them to the Konoha Police Force, which led to them becoming a marginalized group and a potential political threat. Theirsignature doujutsu, the Sharingan, made them even more dangerous. This complicated clan contains bothheroes and villains.

Sasuke Uchiha
Once thought to be the only surviving member of the Uchiha clan besides its destroyer Itachi, Sasuke Uchiha spends the first part of the serieshellbent on vengeance. He’s willing to do anything - even apprenticing himself to Orochimaru and abandoning his post as a Konoha ninja. When he eventually learns the truth behind the clan’s downfall, he changes tactics and ends up declaring war on Konoha. Thanks to support from Naruto Uzumaki, he’s eventually able to reintegrate into his community and start a family.
Itachi Uchiha
Sasuke’s older brother Itachi was an exceptionally talented ninja whose talents were exploited by the leader of Root, Danzo. When Itachi was atraumatized child soldier,Danzo manipulated himinto slaying his clan on the grounds that if he did, he and Sasuke could escape - and if he didn’t, the whole clan would be destroyed. Itachi told Sasuke that he did it to test his strength because he wanted Sasuke to come after him and end his life, granting Sasuke the Eternal Mangekyo. He was an exceptionally kind person whosacrificed everything for Sasuke- but Sasuke didn’t find out until it was too late.
Sarada Uchiha
As Sasuke’s daughter, Sarada was the only member of the Uchiha clan who had yet to be born when the clan was annihilated. She grew up in a time of relative peace, but she also grew up without her father - until she was about eleven years old, he was perpetually away on missions. She is a serious, well-intentioned person whodreams of becoming the Hokage. As a ninja, she has had to go on many dangerous missions with her teammates Boruto and Mitsuki. She awakened her Mangekyo Sharinganat the age of twelve, which is unusually early.
Sakura Uchiha
Formerly Sakura Haruno, this kunoichi turned hospital director is Sasuke Uchiha’s wife and Sarada Uchiha’s mother, making her a member of the clan. Sakura boasts exceptional intelligence, chakra control, and physical strength. As a child, she participated in numerous missions alongside Team 7. As an adult, she began focusing more on her career as a medical ninja. She even opened up aprogram for child psychiatric services- a desperately needed program in a world where kids are constantly risking their lives.
Madara Uchiha
Madara was an early clan member who was closely involved with the creation of Konoha. He was Hashirama Senju’s biggest rival and closest friend. He was fiercely dedicated to his clan and wanted it to control the country. While he could have been a great leader, his power-hungry nature and war trauma combined to turn him into a cruel, bitter person.
He believed that the only way to achieve lasting peace was tobrainwash everyone into inaction through the Infinite Tsukuyomi. He was willing to go to great lengths to achieve it: artificially extending his lifespan, participating in a war, and mentally destroying his descendants. But in the end, he was still manipulated by the Otsutsuki clan.

Izuna Uchiha
Izuna was Madara’s beloved younger brother. Unlike Madara, he was a relatively calm and peaceful person, although he did care deeply about his clan and was willing to fight for it. He passed away from injuries incurred while fighting Tobirama. Before he did, he gave Madara his Mangekyo Sharingan eyes, allowing Madara to gain the Eternal Mangekyo.
Shisui Uchiha
Shisui Uchiha was Kagami’s son and a close friend of Itachi’s. Like Itachi, he was extremely dedicated to both his clan and to the cause of peace. He tried desperately to persuade the clan to call off their planned coup, but his requests were ignored. He knew that his Mangekyo Sharingan was a highly sought-after item. He didn’t want it to fall into the wrong hands, so he was willing to take his own life to ensure that it couldn’t. He also hoped that he could use his demise tohelp Itachiawaken his own Mangekyo.
Obito Uchiha
Once, Obito was a cheerful ninja on the same team as Kakashi and Rin. After a horrible accident crushed his body, he gave his Sharingan eye to Kakashi. But Obito didn’t pass away. Instead, he wasfound by his ancestor Madara, who rebuilt his body using Zetsu materials, but he didn’t do it out of the kindness of his heart. Madara manipulated his injured descendant into hating the world enough to think that it should be destroyed and replaced with Infinite Tsukuyomi. Madara’s efforts worked, and Obito became one of his biggest supporters. He infiltrated the Akatsuki, and manipulated it to that end.
Mikoto & Fugaku Uchiha
Before his demise, Fugaku was the leader of the Uchiha clan. He was also Sasuke and Itachi’s father. He felt thattheir clan was treated poorlyby the Konoha government, and he intended to lead a coup that would get the clan more freedom and less oversight. He was a strict man who rarely showed affection for his family.
Mikoto, his wife, was once a jōnin who was skilled with a shuriken. However, she chose to put her career aside to become a housewife. She was a kind and gentle mother, but could be strict when she needed to be.
