Summary
The casting for the live-actionMoana’s Sina is a secretly perfect casting. Sina is the mother to protagonist Moana, and wife to Chief Tui, Moana’s father. Along with Tui, Sina helps to teach her daughter the ways of Motunui, and encourages her to follow the Chief’s rules by staying within the bounds of the Motunui reef. In 2016’s version ofMoana,Sina is voiced by Nicole Scherzinger. Scherzinger will reprise her voice acting role for theupcoming sequelMoana 2, which will be released in theaters on November 27.
AfterMoana 2, the universe of Motunui and beyond will be transformed once again in the form of a live-action remake ofMoana. Adams is best known for playing Roberta “Bobbie” Draper inThe Expanse. Adams made her debut on the series at the beginning of season 2 and continued her work on the show up untilThe Expanse’s season 6 ending in 2021. Bobbie was a former Gunnery Sergeant for the Martian Marine Corps, and throughout the majority of the sci-fi series, serves as a Special Envoy of the Secretary-General Dockworker at the Mariner Valley shipyard.

Despite the differences between the peacemaker and the fighter, Sina and Draper actually have more in common than one might think. This central motivation gives the strong female characters a shared sense of drive, which propels the characters in their respective films.
