It’s Been A Disaster
Lifetime’s Michelle was initially attracted to David when she saw him at the altar. Michelle had requested a dark-skinned rugged-looking man with tattoos, and she got that in David. David asked for a woman with blonde hair, and he got that in Michelle. Moreover, Michelle asked for someone who was self-sufficient, driven, and could match her energy, while David wanted an independent woman. That said,on paper, Michelle and David fit well together. Where Michelle’s hang-up is, is with David’s living situation.
David lives in a basement unit at his parents' house. He has his own entrance, pays rent to help his parents with their mortgage, and has the means to move out at any time. However, Michelle has been extremely turned off, negative, and unwavering in her disdain for David’s living situation. She has put that above any of his positive qualities and characteristics, and it’s caused her and David’s marriage to crumble before it’s even begun.
Michelle has visible contempt for David, despite his explanations about his living situation and his goals for the future. Michelle can’t get out of her head and the optics of David’s situation enough to realize why she and David were matched. She is hyper-focused on not seeing David as an"equal,“and treating him like less-than, while he’s been doing everything in his power to put her at ease.

In the latest episode, Michelle was confronted by the experts because she originally told Dr. Pia Holec she would be okay with someone living at home if they had outward prospects, and that’s what she got in David. The experts called her out for pushing her definition of success onto David and not realizing that he possesses all the qualities she asked for.
