The organization’s obscurity might be changing soon, as not only are the Serpent Society making their first MCU appearance, but they’ve also gained their biggest and most powerful member so far - who may just be a major threat to the Avengers.
TheSerpent Society debuts a brand-new member, Titanoboa, inAvengers Assemble#3 by Steve Orlando and Marcelo Farreira. After the events of theBlood Huntevent, new vampires are roaming the world, resulting inCaptain Americacreating a new form of theAvengers, known as the Avengers Emergency Response Squad, also known as the AVENG.E.R.S.
This squad was made to respond to vampire threats within seconds or to any other threats if necessary. It’s a great team created by Captain America, but they might not be prepared for the Serpent Society’s newest member.

Not only is Titanoboa a major new member who might pose a massive threat to the Avengers, but the debut also coincides withthe Serpent Society’s first appearance in the MCU.These two overlapping events could bejust what the Serpent Society needs to finally reach the popularity of Marvel’s other major evil factions, specifically the Hand and Hydra. While it remains to be seen what the Serpent Society’s newest member, Titanoboa, is capable of, their leader, Pit Viper, seems confident that his power will make all the difference.
The Serpent Society is honestly a great idea, and it deserves a lot more attention than it’s gotten. Most Marvel fans know about Hydra and the Hand, the former being a Nazi organization that is hellbent on world domination, the latter being an ancient mystical death cult that wants nothing more than to control the world and usher in their dark god. TheSerpent Society’s goals are much simpler, though.The founder of the Serpent Society, Seth Voelker, looked at organizations like S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers and decided that if heroes could unionize, so should villains.
The forming of this organization has led to the Serpent Society being one of the most successful villain groups around.
The Serpent Society was then created to give the villains of the Marvel Universe a true organization. The only requirement for membership was that someone had to have a snake theme to join the Serpent Society. By joining, they were provided with guaranteed pay scales, insurance, medical, and even pension plans.It’s a pretty absurd idea, but the forming of this organization has led tothe Serpent Society being one of the most successful villain groups around, even if they haven’t reached the same popularity as other similar evil groups.

It’s unclear exactlyhow Sam Wilson will be able to triumph against a trio of villainswhen any one of them would be a challenging match for him.

The MCU tends to change things just a little bit to fit its current story instead of directly adapting events and characters from the comics. It’sunclear exactly what role the Serpent Society will play in the movie, but the founder of the society, Seth Voelker, will be making an appearance and is portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito. Hydra was a major antagonistic force in the MCU, but they have almost all but been wiped out by the Avengers. It’s possible that in the MCU, the Serpent Society will be an evolution of Hydra: something far more dangerous than what came before.

A lot of characters have gotten major popularity boosts from being included in the MCU, such as the Guardians of the Galaxy and even Iron Man. This same boost could happen for the Serpent Society, as they’re a fantastic idea. A criminal organization that is run as an actual organization that provides its members with salaries and benefits is pretty neat. It also makes them stand out from other groups.
