In the new preview forStar Wars #50by Charles Soule, Madibek Musabekov, and Rachelle Rosenberg, an older Luke Skywalker is telling young Ben a critical story about his days in the Rebellion with Ben’s mother Leia, Lando, Chewbacca, as well as Threepio and Artoo. On his first visit,Luke was able to commune with the High Republic Era’s Jedi Master Elzar Mann, and was also given copies of the sacred Jedi texts once he was allowed to leave the powerful vergence. Luke Skywalker Returns To The Living Sea of Gazian
Seeking More Knowledge Of The Past
With his first visit to Gazian, Luke Skywalker received a wealth of information that proved invaluable to his Jedi path between Episodes V-VI. Not only did he learn about the Jedi Order from centuries past during the High Republic Era, butLuke also received the sacred Jedi texts, the very same ones seen inThe Last Jediwhich Rey Skywalker would come to inherit. He was also shown by Elzar Mann that becoming a Jedi was very much a choice, and that other paths could be taken.

Nevertheless, the entire experience on Gazian encouraged Luke to continue his Jedi path. It also provided him with the tools he needed to keep growing as a Jedi, despite having left his training with Yoda at the end ofThe Empire Strikes Back. Likewise, this same knowledge would become the foundation for his new Jedi academy, before it was ultimately destroyed by Ben Solo during his rise as Kylo Ren.

New Darkness Is Waiting For Luke Skywalker
What Will Gazian Show The Galaxy’s New Hope?
Keeping that in mind, one has to wonder what kind of darkness Gazian has in store for Luke on this second visit. It’s also worth noting that theHigh Republic’s Dark Jedi Azlin Rellis featured on the cover ofStar Wars #50.This suggests that Luke’s next encounter won’t be sourced in the light like last time with Master Elzan Mann.
At the same time, it’s also going to be interesting to discover what Luke might learn from this darker aspect of the Living Sea of Gazian, as well as if it will have any influence on his future Jedi academy in the future of theStar Warstimeline. After all, it’s likely no accident that this final issue is being framed as a story told by Luke to Ben Solo years later. Regardless, a new visit to this powerful and dangerous Force vergence will no doubt be quite fascinating.

Star Wars #50releases September 11th from Marvel Comics.
