Shortly after the announcement of an additional delay forAssassin’s Creed Shadows, details regarding an expansion for the game were leaked, giving potential players an idea of what’s coming to the game post-launch. Originally slated for a November 2024 release,Shadowswas initially delayed to a later release date of July 23, 2025, and just recently, the game has been delayed yet again, to March 20.
As reported byInsider Gaming,details regarding the first expansion forAssassin’sCreedShadowswere made public, apparently accidentally, on the game’s Steam page, revealing thatit will be named"Claws of Awaji", and will include around 10+ hours of gameplay. According to the page’s updated description, which has since been revised to remove any information regarding the expansion, it will be given to players who pre-purchase the game for free and will include “a new region”, “a new weapon type”, and “new skills, gear, and abilities” not included in the base game.

The name implies, for example, thatAwaji Island will be the “new region"included in the expansion, and potentially that the"new weapon type” will be some sort of claw weapon, which, according topreview materials, will not be in either protagonist’s arsenal in the base game.
