Actor Jude Law looks back on hisCaptain Marvelrole and reveals he wanted to do more as theMCUvillain Yon-Rogg. In 2019,Captain Marvelintroduced the titular Avenger alongside the Kree and the Skrulls.Captain Marvel’s main antagonist is the Kree commander Yon-Rogg, who turns on his apprentice Carol Danvers and tries to eliminate the Skrulls. Carol Danvers defeats Yon-Rogg at the end ofCaptain Marvel, but chooses to spare his life in order to send a warning to the Supreme Intelligence.
Speaking toVariety, Jude Law explains that he wanted to explore hisCaptain Marvelrole more deeply.Law wanted Yon-Rogg"to be more arch"and wished he"could lean into the humor more". The actor also explains that while stunt training is thorough, the costumes make physical performance a difficult task. Read Law’s full comments below:

“I don’t think there was much more they could get out of Yon-Rogg,” Law says. “That, for me, was the height of Marvel.”
“It was a really good experience. I wish I’d been allowed to have a bit more fun with the part. I wanted him to be more arch. I wanted to lean into the humor more. Also, those suits are hard to move in because they’re thick rubber. You go to stunt camp for a couple of months, where you’re doing all these fight rehearsals and learning to do all this stuff. And then you put the suit on, and you go, ‘Oh! I can’t touch my toes! How am I going to do all that stuff with this thing on?’ You figure it out though.”

What Jude Law’s Captain Marvel Comments Mean
The MCU Has Glossed Over Several Villains' Stories
Jude Law’s interest in a more developed Yon-Rogg highlights a common issue with MCU antagonists. WhileMarvel Studios has introduced complex and revered villainslike Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and Josh Brolin’s Thanos, the MCU has also presented villains with lots of potential and great casting, but with rather unremarkable appearances and an early farewell.Villains like Jude Law’s Yon-Rogg, Christopher Eccleston’s Malekith, and Mads Mikkelsen’s Kaecilius could have been popular characters with unique multi-movie arcs. Unfortunately, they were all one-off antagonists.

Jude Law’s Yon-Rogg Could Still Return In The MCU
Although Jude Law considers there’s little else the MCU"could get out of Yon-Rogg,“the possibility of seeing Yon-Rogg back on screen is always on the table. The MCU has brought villains back against all odds, andCaptain Marvel’s final battle suggests Yon-Rogg is still alive somewhere out there.WhileYon-Rogg is absent inThe Marvels, Jude Law’s Kree villain could still return in a cosmic MCU movie or show. Yon-Rogg could bring the Supreme Intelligence back into the fold, whether to exact revenge on Carol Danvers or to face another cosmic hero like Spectrum, Nova, or Silver Surfer.
I’m Convinced That The MCU’s Lowest-Grossing Movie Set Up A Major Avengers Movie Moment For Phase 6
The MCU’s lowest-grossing movie might have a huge impact, as The Marvels could lead to one of the most exciting aspects of the next Avengers movies.
In the comics, Yon-Rogg adopts the moniker “Magnitron” after fighting Carol Danvers, and he attacks New York City to torment her. Yon-Rogg outsmarts the Avengers, but Carol Danvers puts her life on the line to stop the Kree villain. After Carol defeats him, Yon-Rogg is depowered and captured. One ofthe MCU’s upcoming projectscould see Yon-Rogg attack Earth as Magnitron, and eitherCaptain Marvelor another hero defeating him a second time. This time around, the MCU could give Jude Law’s Yon-Rogg a more dynamic and perhaps comical role.
