Our Take On Speak No Evil’s Success
Blumhouse Has Found A Winning Strategy
Before the film was even released, there was some negative buzz surrounding it. Considering the Danish film came out only two years ago and remains an effective and compelling watch, the Blumhouse remake ofSpeak No Evilfelt unnecessary. The remake ended up exceeding expectations, however, and critics praised McAvoy’s lead performance and many of Watkins' changes to the original.
In addition to McAvoy, theSpeak No Evilcast includes Mackenzie Davis, Aisling Franciosi, Scoot McNairy, Alex West Lefler, and Dan Hough.

McAvoy remains a draw for audiences under certain circumstances, and, afterSplit, he’s certainly known as an actor who can effectively play a sinister villain. Blumhouse continues to succeed by making horror-thriller movies at lower budget levels and effectively marketing them, andSpeak No Evil’s success is certainly a testament to the company’s strong approach to making movies.
