Warning: This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along.
Marvel Studios may have just teased a second season ofAgatha All Along, and I know the perfect story for the follow-up season in theMCU. Concluding on October 30,Agatha All Alonghas quickly become one of the MCU’s most popular Disney+ shows, and one of my personal favorites, following on from the success of 2021’sWandaVision.Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harknesssaw huge growth and transformation inAgatha All Along, and we also saw the introduction of formidable new characters, including Death and Billy Maximoff’s Wiccan, setting up huge stories for the MCU’s future.
WhileAgatha All Alongwas initially billed as a limited series, speculation about apossibleAgatha All Alongseason 2has been rising afterVarietyreported that the series would be submitted in the upcoming awards season’s comedy categories.I personally would love to seeAgatha All Alongget a second season, especially since the series finale saw Billy Maximoff and Agatha Harkness' ghost leaving Westview to track downTommy Maximoff’s Speed in his new body. The possibility ofAgatha All Alongseason 2 has me hopeful that one missing MCU relic could be explored in more detail.

Agatha All Along All But Ignored The Darkhold
The Darkhold Only Appeared In A Vision In Agatha All Along
Upon her introduction to the MCU in 2021’sWandaVision, Agatha Harkness was confirmed to be in possession of theDarkhold, the Book of the Damned. The Scarlet Witch stole the book inWandaVision, leading to the events ofDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessand leaving Agatha vulnerable inAgatha All Along.Despite its destruction at the hands of Wanda Maximoff, I had hoped thatAgatha All Alongwould explore the Darkhold in more detail, but the Book of Sins only appeared once in the series, and that was only in a vision on the Witches' Road.

Agatha All Along’spremiere sawAgnes O’Connor investigate the Darkholdbeing stolen and destroyed in her true crime-style scenario, but we never saw the book itself. Agatha only saw the book while hallucinating from Alewife’s Revenge inAgatha All Alongepisode 3, as the Darkhold appeared in a crib, suggesting that Agatha had exchanged her son’s life for the book. This vision turned out to be a fabrication created by Billy Maixmoff, andevenAgatha All Alongepisode 9, which detailed much of Agatha’s history, ignored the Darkhold, so we’re still unclear about its true history.
Agatha’s History With The Darkhold Could Be Explored In Agatha All Along Season 2
Agatha Harkness Acquired The Darkhold Sometime Before WandaVision
I was surprised that we didn’t see Agatha Harkness acquire the Darkhold and learn about its dark knowledge and spells inAgatha All Along, but I reckon this could be the perfect story to tell in a possible season 2.Agatha All Along’sfinale, “Maiden Mother Crone,” explored some of Agatha Harkness' history in the MCU, as we saw her across various decades using the song, “The Ballad of the Witches' Road,” to lure witches into her trap, allowing her to claim their power and their lives. This would have been a great opportunity to reintroduce the Darkhold.
How Did Agatha Get The Darkhold Before WandaVision?
After Agatha All Along revealed Agatha’s backstory, one mystery is more confusing. When did Agatha obtain the Darkhold and how does her son factor in?
Given Agatha Harkness' tragic history with Death and her son, Nicholas Scratch,I assume that the Salem witch sought the Darkhold at some point to try and bring her son back to life. It makes sense that she would have kept the book in her possession even after realizing this wasn’t possible, as the Darkhold’s magic protected Agatha from harm, particularly harm delivered byAubrey Plaza’s Death. I would be thrilled to see Agatha Harkness' history with the Darkhold explored in more detail inAgatha All Alongseason 2, should this sequel season be put into development.

The Darkhold Deserves More Development In The MCU
The Darkhold Is An Incredibly Powerful Relic In The MCU
The Darkhold is one of the most powerful and exciting new relics introduced to the MCU in the Multiverse Saga. Wong revealed inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessthat the dark spells of the Darkhold were originally carved into the walls of theDarkhold Castle on Mount Wundagoreby the first demon, Chthon. These spells were later transcribed into the physical book. In Marvel Comics,Chthon is pivotal in the evolution of the Scarlet Witch, so I would love to see this origin explored to expand Wanda Maximoff’s own MCU journey.
Chthon gave Wanda Maximoff her ability to access Chaos Magic in Marvel Comics, which could also have been the case in the MCU.

We’ve barely scratched the surface of what the Darkhold is capable of, andI would consider it a shame for the book to be destroyed for good after the events ofMultiverse of Madness.Agatha All Alongseason 2 would present the perfect opportunity for the Darkhold’s origin story to be explored, perhaps even debuting Chthon in the MCU, and marking thereturn of Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. I’m incredibly excited about this prospect, so I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that Marvel puts another season of its new fan-favorite series into production.
