Quick Links
There are eight survivors who can make it out ofUntil Dawn Remake. Over the course of 10 chapters, you will make choices that can decide the fate of everyone. Some of these are quick reactions, while others are more calculated options. While saving everyone is the most ideal ending, certain routes, scenes, and dialogue can occur if certain characters have died. This makes it worthwhile to have both a perfect run, but also playthrough multiple times to see all the outcomes.
The remake does make a few changes from the original release ofUntil Dawn.Firesprite is working on a sequel 10 years later. Some of these plot threads have been inserted into this new release. Mechanically, you don’t need to do anything different. Instead, veteran players will be treated to new info and scenes by using most of the same methods of helping out the protagonists. For newcomers, the experience is seamlessly integrated even if you never played the 2015 game.

Reliant On Others - Saving Jessica, Matt, and Ashley
Heroes Who Can Easily Die When Not Controlled
Jessica, Matt, and Ashley are the three characters who are most likely to suffer from the actions of their peers inUntil Dawn. They can have some agency over their own fate, but mostly as a fail-safe if someone has already died or made another kind of poor decision. In a perfect run, Jessica is completely unplayableand is at the mercy of Mike and Matt.
Decisions To Save Jessica
Jessica is one of the first to be attacked and go missing inUntil Dawn. For most of the storyline, many assume that she has just died. You must wait all the way to Chapter 9 to learn that she is alive.
Four
Mike
When Jessica is abducted, donot fail any of the stumble prompts. Mike will find her with her jaw still intact, but she will fall down a mine shaft.
Catch Jessica when she falls during the quick time event.
When given the option to flee, remain still.
Never let a decision timer run out or both Matt and Jessica will die.
Decisions To Save Matt
Matt’s choices are spread across multiple sections ofUntil Dawn. One of the most important choicesis done in Chapter 6 - taking the flare gun. Without this item, he may be as good as dead, based on other choices.
Six
Matt
When cornered by wild deer, do not attack and allow them to pass.
Emily
When finding theflare gun in the Radio Tower, Emily should willingly give it to Matt.
If you choose to save Emily when she falls, shoot the flare gun at the Wendigo.

Succeed every quick-time event to keep moving.
Always make a decision, or Matt will die if the timer runs out.
Decisions To Save Ashley
Ashley herself only makes one crucial decision. Otherwise, much of her fate lies in the hands of Sam, Mike, and Emily. It is unclear if Ashley will be a more active heroine intheUntil Dawnfilm adaptation.
Eight
Complete all quick-time events to escape the Wendigo attack. If possible, do not suffer any damage.
Nine
Ashley
While exploring the caves, Jessica’s voice will call out for help.Fully ignore this and move on.
Ten
Sam
If Ashley remained silent during Chapter 8, succeed thefirststand still event. If she pointed out Emily’s wound, complete thesecondstand still event.
Actively save Mike and allow Ashley time to run out of the lodge.

Do not blow up the lodge before Ashley has time to flee.
Crucial Choices - Saving Emily and Chris
They Can Mostly Blame Themselves
Emily and Chris have the most urgency and chances to directly end their own lives. They can still be killed by others, but this mostly comes from making a previous error inUntil Dawn. If you are finishing quick-time without missing at all, some of the worst choices will be skipped over.
Decisions To Save Emily
Emily has to deal with some rather punishing quick-time events.QTEs in Until Dawn are harder than The Quarry. Don’t be surprised if Emily unexpectedly dies and requires a rest to fully understand the timing.
YouTuberGetRektNoobshowed off the difference between the chase in the original and the remake ofUntil Dawn. Most of the mechanics are the same, but the on-screen buttons are less pronounced. It is a good idea to memorize your control scheme rather than rely on prompts.

Escape the Wendigo’s pursuit. If possible, take no damage so that Emily is uninjured.
During the chase, take the right side route and operate the elevator.

Succeed all quick time events to get out of the rock grinder.
If Ashley remained silent during Chapter 8, succeed thesecondstand still event. If she pointed out Emily’s bite, complete thefirststand still event.
Do not blow up the lodge before Emily has time to flee.
Decisions To Save Chris
Chris and Ashley have a deep attraction early on inUntil Dawn. However, if you betray this relationship, she may quickly allow Chris to die via inaction. Even if they remain in good standing, Ashley’s personal actions might still dictate Chris’ life.
Until Dawn Director Shares Exciting & Bloody Filming Update For Acclaimed Horror Video Game Adaptation
Director David F. Sandberg shares a bloody, exciting production update on his next horror movie, the upcoming video game adaptation Until Dawn.
Despite Chris making an appearance in Chapter 10, you do not need to make any selections here.He will automatically escape at the start of the final sequence. If you did want him to perish, your last chance is during Chapter 9.
Chris
The Psycho will capture both Chris and Ashley. He forces you to shoot one of the two survivors.Always pick Chris, or he will die in Chapter 8.
During the shooting segment, kill every single Wendigo and make it back to the lodge.Note:if you previously shot Ashley, Chris cannot live.
A voice that sounds like Jessica calls out for help. Ignore it and rendezvous with the other survivors.
Chris will later hear the same voice from Jessica, supposedly. Once again,do not investigate it.
Nearly Invincible - Saving Mike, Sam, and Josh
Plot Armor Makes Choices Minimal
Mike, Sam, and Josh are the three plot-critical people inUntil Dawn. you may make some terrible decisions early on and they will simply live for most of the game. It is only near the end that they become susceptible to death.
Decisions To Save Mike
Similar to Jessica, Mike makes no important decisions if you are already on a perfect route throughUntil Dawn. Whether he lives or dies is entirely based on actions taken by Sam. It is only when Sam is dead that you have to control Mike directly.
Succeed at the first stand still prompt and allow the other survivors to escape.
Yell at the Wendigo to give Mike an opening so he can break the light bulb.
Do not blow up the lodge before Mike gets out.
If Sam died, but Mike managed to break the light bulb, flip the light switch. Otherwise, Mike can no longer survive.
Decisions To Save Sam
Sam is the most resilient hero inUntil Dawn. She only has a few means of dying, making it likely that she will survive most runs. This contributes to the game beingan easy experience for new players.
Succeed all stand still prompts excluding the first.Note:failing the first promptwillinstead kill Emily or Ashley, rather than Sam.
Never allow a decision timer to expire. Otherwise, Sam will get stabbed by a Wendigo.
Josh is never a directly played character inUntil Dawn. Saving him is entirely controlled by Sam during theearly morning of Chapter 10. Mike will charge on a head through a waterfall. Instead of following, scale up the ledge on the left to findHannah’s Scrawled Journal. Simply reading this before finding Josh will spare his life.
