Billy the Puppet is one of the most iconic modern horror characters, having terrified movie-goers for two decades in the Saw franchise, so it’s fitting that he would eventually find his way intoFortnitefor their annual Halloween event, Fortnitemares. As well as being able to purchase his outfit in the item shop, you can also find him hiding on the map as a new boss fight.
Every season of Fortnite has boss fights placed across the map to give players a chance to take on a non-human opponent and earn some high-tier weapons. As part of theFortnitemares 2024 event, Billy the Puppet from theSawmovies has been added as a limited-time boss. Not only does he bring a spooky vibe to the season, but he also drops a brand-new weapon, the Boom Billy, for you to try out.
Where To Find Billy In Fortnite
He’s Hiding Inside A Television Set At A Freaky New Location
Billy can be found in thebrand-new Freaky Fields POIthat’s replaced Reckless Railways near the center of the Fortnite map. Once you’ve landed here, you’ll want to look for a large house with white walls and a black roof. It’s the only house here, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to spot, but I’ve circled it in the screenshot above if you’re not sure which building it is.
Because this is a brand-new location, and because there’s a quest that directs players to go here, Freaky Fields will likely be the most popular POI during theFortnitemares event. Make sure you land here at the very start of a match to have the best chance of meeting Billy before another player gets to him.
Go inside the front door and look for a side room with a retro-looking television inside it. You’ll know if you’re in the right place because a creepy video clip of Billy will appear on the screen. Hold down the button next to the"Investigate"command that appears (this was Square on PS5) and Billy will explode out of the television and immediately attack you.
How To Defeat Billy In Fortnite
He’s An Easy Opponent, But Watch Out For His Pickaxe Swings
As soon as Billy pops out of the television set, he will start attacking you by swinging his pickaxe. The good news is that this is his only attack, so as long as you can keep some distance, you won’t need to worry about being eliminated. He also has a small amount of health in comparison to other bosses that have appeared in Fortnite. I only had a low-rarity shotgun when I took Billy on and was able to defeat him with a few headshots.
If you just want to complete the"Find and defeat Billy"quest, and you aren’t bothered about getting the weapons he drops once defeated, you can simply land a single shot on Billy and run away. As long as someone defeats him, you’ll complete the quest for helping.
The biggest challenge when defeating Billy inFortniteis going to be other players who are eager to defeat him themselves. I found this out the hard way when, directly after defeating Billy, another player appeared by surprise and eliminated me. For this reason, I’d recommend defeating Billy as quickly as possible, picking up his loot drops, and then running away before another player can find you.
