Phantom Mage is back with only one weaknessPersona 3 Reloadplayers can exploit in theEpisode Aigis: The AnswerDLC. Found on the B6 floor of the Cocytus dungeon, this is the first of three consecutive boss battles found within the right Monad Door - containing the most powerful Shadows of the three doors. Knowing the weakness of bosses like Phantom Mage immediately is essential so you can save your squad’s HP and SP, which would normally be spent on figuring it out on trial and error.

ReturningP3Rplayers who’ve fought these similar Shadows in the base game need to check these as well since a lot of weaknesses & resistances have been altered in the DLC. This means the loadout of squadmates and Personas you’ve set up for one boss or set of enemies will be irrelevant now. Even if you don’t have the10 strongest Personas inPersona 3 Reload, there is a weak point for Phantom Mage and its following bosses you can easily exploit.

Wind Them Up

The weakness of Phantom Mage in thePersona 3 Reload Episode Aigis: The AnswerDLCis Wind damage. Yukari is the perfect squad member to take with you to defeat it since her Persona, Isis, will have the Wind attacks Garu in its moveset by default, making this fight as easy as findingevery secret URL inP3R. Phantom Mage is resistant to Electric and repels Light damage, so if you have Ken in your squad, only have him use Physical attacks at this stage.

Persona 3 The Answer Makes Its DLC Dungeon A Better Experience

Persona 3 Reload’s upcoming expansion, Episode Aigis -The Answer-, brings the base game’s updates to the DLC from the original game.

By using one Wind move to knock it down and follow up with an All-Out attack, it only took me three rounds to beat Phantom Mage. If the Monad Door boss fights take you by surprise and you don’t have Yukari in the team, items like Magaru Gem or Garula Gem work as well - inflicting 50 and 100 Wind damage respectively.

These can be found throughout the Abyss of Time as random drops when destroying yellow-glowing mineral deposits or by opening chests like inP3R’sTartarus, so be sure to check your inventory to see if you picked any up in passing.

Power, the Persona you may obtain through Shuffle Time in the DLC is a good choice to inflict Wind damage against Phantom Mage as well. It knows the move Magaru by default.

Wind, Fire & Ice

Defeating Phantom Mage inEpisode Aigis: The Answerwill immediately follow with two more consecutiveP3Rboss battles which you should also know the vulnerabilities for before going in. This extra challenge does add to the question ofwhether theP3Rexpansion pass is worth it.

To knock down and easily defeat the next two bosses,Red Sigil has a weakness to Ice damage, whileBlue Sigil is weak to Slash attacks. With my SEES members at about Level 30 each, it took me another three turns each to defeat them by knocking them down and using All-Out Attacks.

The third stage of this boss battle is a bit more difficult whereElegant Mother has a weakness to Firewhile its support units, Muttering Tira and Manicial Book, are both weak to Wind. You need to utilize these quickly since the latter two use moves like Rakunda and Tarukaja to debuff your defenses while raising their Attack. Add Yukari to yourPersona 3 Reloadteam to exploit Phantom Mage’s Wind weakness with Junpei and Metis to target those of the others, and you’ll soon defeat these bosses.
