Finding and beating the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King boss inGenshin Impactcan be an arduous task if you do not know where to look and go into the fight with an ill-prepared team comp. Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King is one of the two new overworld bosses added with the Version 5.0 update for HoYoverse’s action RPG, with the other being the Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant – though both bosses have different approaches to their battles. You may feel compelled to beat the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King because it is the boss that dropsKachina’s Ascension materials inGenshin Impact.

Its Overripe Flamegranate items are also used in Kinich’s Ascension process, so you may see yourself farming this new Natlan boss multiple times to get all the materials you need. The Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King, also known as Kongamata, is an overgrown Yumkasaurus who got stuck in a cave in the Tequemecan Valley and overindulged in Flamegranates, which made it grow in size. The boss has some pretty heavy-hitting attacks, but there are ingenious ways of countering them, provided you find Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King’s location inGenshin Impactfirst.

Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King Boss Location In Genshin Impact

The Natlan Boss Is Located In A Hidden Underground Cave

The first step in facing the new boss is finding Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King’s den in Natlan. This opponent is located in between the Sulfurous Veins, Tepeacac Rise, and Scions of the Canopy areas of the map, though in a hidden underground portion of it. The best way to reach its location is to go to the Teleport Waypoint right between these three areas, as exemplified in the image provided byHoYoLAB’s interactive map forGenshin Impact. For reference, this is a Waypoint located above ground.Nearby, slightly to the east, you will see a crevice in the ground.

On the wall of the crevice is a Pyroculus, be sure to grab it.

Here, you may jump down with your active character or use Saurian Indwelling to take over a Yumkasaurus and descend with its grappling ability. Regardless of your chosen method, you will find a cave entrance on the lower portion. If you follow the path forward, you will unlock a new Teleport Waypoint, which will be useful when you have to teleport back to face the boss another time. In the distance, you will see the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King boss inGenshin Impact. You will then have to glide over to start the battle.

Tips & Strategies To Beat Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King In Genshin Impact

Use The Natlan Boss’ Attacks Against It

Once the battle commences, you should notice that Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King is a slow but heavy hitter. Its melee attacks are rather foreseeable and, thus, avoidable with a quick sprint away. The boss will try to spit and stomp at you, but a step backward should be enough. One of the melee attacks you should keep an eye out for is the one in which it uses its tongue to grapple and swing forward. Here, two different conclusions are possible. The first one has a delayed pound on the floor, which gives you enough time to dodge away inGenshin Impact.

The second type sees the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King boss immediately slam the floor for two instances of expanding AoE Dendro DMG. The window for dodging is a lot shorter and you will want to dodge outward and then back into the boss’ direction. The difference between these two types of swing attacks is hardly noticeable, soyour initial reaction should always be to run away from your position, as both moves start with an AoE around the boss’ location. These melee attacks, however, are not the key to beating the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King inGenshin Impact.

Living up to its lore, the boss uses Flamegranates during the battle – it can use either one or three at the same time. Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King drops these Flamegranates on the ground and, shortly after, it grabs the item with its tongue. This is followed by a spitting attack, which deals explosive Pyro DMG in an AoE.If the boss is using this attack with three Flamegranates, the third spit will be an energy beam with increased Pyro DMG.

Instead of simply dodging, however, you are incentivized to counter this attack inGenshin Impact.

All New Craftable Weapons In Genshin Impact 5.0

Five new free and craftable weapons have been added to Genshin Impact 5.0’s Natlan region, and each of them is spectacular in its own way.

To do this, you can light up the Flamegranates before Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King pulls them in.As soon as the boss drops the Flamegranates in the arena, you should attack these items with Pyro DMG. This will ignite them and, subsequently, damage the boss as they explode. If a single Flamegranate is ignited this way, the boss will suffer Pyro DMG. If all three Flamegranates damage Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King with their explosions, the boss will take the damage and be stunned for a long period inGenshin Impact, allowing you to use all your party’s abilities on it.

These are the main attacks used by Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King and the best way of countering it. If your party is strong, it is likely you will defeat this Natlan boss without seeing some of its attacks. Before facing Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King, you should prepare a proper team compto increase your chances of success. The first thing to know is that this is a Dendro boss and, as such, it has increased Resistance against Dendro DMG.

If you plan on beating it with Alhaitham or Kinich, for example, you may make the fight longer than necessary.

Because the best way to counter Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King is by igniting the Flamegrantes it puts on the floor, you should have at least one Pyro character in your team comp. You can use Bennett as your healer and igniter, for example, or useArlecchino inGenshin Impactas your main source of damage output and consistent Pyro application – which often leads to automatically lighting the Flamegranates. A shielder could help you continuously strike the boss without dodging, but you could instead use a reliable healer to restore HP through the attacks.

How The New Genshin Impact 5.0 Character & Weapon Banner Rates Work

Players will see a series of positive changes to the mechanics of both the limited character and weapon banners starting with Genshin Impact 5.0.

Overall, this is not a difficult boss to beat. There are no tough gameplay gimmicks to be wary of and, often, pure and raw damage is just enough to take it down within a few seconds. However, it is always best to be prepared. The Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King is just one of the first Natlan bosses, as many more are expected to arrive in future patches, including a brand-new weeklyboss inGenshin Impact.
