How Henry Cavill’s Deadpool & Wolverine Cameo Came To Be

In an interview withVariety,Deadpool & Wolverinedirector Shawn Levy opened up about how they actually got Cavill involved for the Wolverine multiverse montage. Levy stressed that when he and Ryan Reynolds were writing the screenplay, once the Wade Wilson actor coined the term “The Cavillerine,” the director knew they had to try to get the former Superman actor. According to Levy, getting him to come on board was not difficult:“He said “yes” right away because he knew it would be subversive and playful. It was also with a lot of affection for him and his body of work, and playing with his legacy as a DC hero now that he’s appearing as a variant of a Marvel hero.”

Although it appears that Cavill did have a little trouble with shooting hisDeadpool & Wolverinecameo. In a separate interview with theHappy, Sad, ConfusedPodcast, Levy stressed that Cavill actually"was so committed. I mean he was jacked up, and he had that disgusting cigar in his mouth for hours, and he was fully in it. I think he might have gotten sick to his stomach, if memory serves.“It was apparently a"combination of, like, oxygenated muscles, no actual oxygen going up into his nose, but he was a trooper and he was fabulous.”
