Summary
I always like seeing a new costume, but man, theFlash’snew outfit really has me excited for the Scarlet Speedster’s next era. We’ve all seen the outpouring of news ever since DC Comics announced itsnew DC All In initiative, but few things have me more hyped than Wally West’s latest look.
I can’t tell you how excited I was for the October batch of solicitations. Sure, we already got peeksof the Absolute Universe, but what about the Prime continuity? The solicitations didn’t disappoint as they showed us the next chapter of DC’s greatest heroes.

Variant Covers:
Dike Ruan, Ian Bertram, and Daniel Sampere
Wally, Linda, and the kids come together in the wake of the losses suffered to heal as a family and figure out their new abilities. While this family trip has a unique destination—Skartaris, in the center of the Earth—Wally’s begun an evolution into a new form, and he’s not ready to share that with the rest of the family!

Mike Deodato, Jr.’s cover forThe Flash #14shows two Flashes. The one on the left looks a bit more like your standard Flash. But the one on the right has some interesting tweaks to the costume, including adding black to the color scheme, glowing patterns along Flash’s arms, and a cowl with long, tapered wings.
Flash’s New Costume is a Bold Reinvention and I Love It
If you’ve been readingThe Flash(and I hope you have, because it’s great), you know that the Fastest Man Alive has been exploring a lot of cosmic weirdness. An extra-dimensional collection of beings known as the Arc Angles have been targeting the concept of time, believing it to be the source of all suffering. As the greatest speedster who’s ever lived, Wally West became the center of an interdimensional conspiracy. The Arc Angles purged Wally of his memories and attached the Crown of Thawnes to him, intent on using the Flash to kill time itself.
The Flashhas been an amazing story, even if I feel like I’m only understanding about half of it at any given point. But I love the unexpected twists and turns the creative team has taken the Flash Family through. I’ve also really liked seeing Wally as a cosmic explorer inThe Flash 2024 Annualwhere he got an outfit that suited the high-concept era he’s found himself in. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Flash suit and it is hard to beat a classic. Butthe elements of the Flash’s new costume really make me wonder what’s next.

I Need to Know What’s Going on with The Flash’s Ears Immediately
A good costume gets fans asking questions, and for me, I’m already wondering where Wally gets this new outfit and what does it give him that his usual outfit doesn’t? Do the glowing symbols on Flash’s arms mean anything? And seriously, what’s with the ears?! Don’t take any of this as a slight. I really do like what I’m seeing hear and I’m quite curious for the next few months following Wally as he embarks on the next chapter of his superhero career. I don’t know whatFlash’snew costume represents, but I’m excited to see what it means for him.
The Flash #14is available on October 23rd from DC Comics.
The Flash
The Flash is the superhero name given to the DC Comics character who utilizes unparalleled speed tied to a dimensional power known as the “speed force” to overwhelm their opposition. Premiering in 1939, the original Flash arrived as Jay Garrick. Still, it would be superseded by Barry Allen in popularity and featured status, but the Flash is one character that has met many of their alternate selves. The character is typically seen as a part of the Justice League in nearly all incarnations.
