Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Battle of Jakku - Last Stand #1
Star Warshas finally begun to explain where its most famous heroes were during the Battle of Jakku. The aftermath of this battle was prominently featured on the desert world in 2015’sForce Awakens, having served as the last definitive conflict that ended the Galactic Civil War, about a year after the destruction of the second Death Star over Endor. That said, the specifics about Luke, Leia, Lando, and Han Solo’s involvement haven’t really been revealed before.

While previous novels, comics, and even games have covered the Battle of Jakku, the details and the whereabouts of certain characters have been slim. Luke Skywalker’s involvement in particular has only been covered in myth and legend. Leia, Han Solo, and Lando Calrissian can be accounted for before and after the battle, but not their exact involvement during Jakku itself. Now,Last Stand #1by Alex Segura, Jethro Morales, and Leonard Kirk has begun to reveal that the heroes had their own mission, one connected to Jakku but also separate from the main conflict between the New Republic and the Shattered Empire.
Governor Adelhard Is Set To Become A Third Faction On Jakku
A Coalition of Loyalists and Spice Runners
As seen in Marvel’s entireBattle of Jakkusaga, which also includesInsurgency RisingandRepublic Under Siege, the self-titled Grand Moff Adelhard has risen to become a major threat. Initially claiming that the Battle of Endor was a victory for the Empire, Adelhard locked down the Anoat sector and treated any reports to the contrary as Rebel propaganda. He also forged alliances withthe dark side cult known as the Acolytes of the Beyondand the Spice Runners of Kijimi.
Defying the rest of the Imperial Navy that had begun marshaling its forces over Jakku per the will of the late Emperor,Adelhard has become a powerful and independent force all his own, seeking to destroy both the New Republic and the Empire to forge a New Empire in the aftermath, especially after he was betrayed by some of his allies inRepublic Under Siege. Now,Last Stand #1has proven that Adelhard has become quite unhinged and extremely dangerous, a notable third faction who seemingly intends to fight both sides in the imminent Battle of Jakku.

Last Stand Sees The Most Famous Rebel Heroes Rallying Together
Coming Together On Chandrila
Likewise,Last Stand #1sees a pregnant Princess Leia grappling with the Acolytes who are continuing to attack the New Republic capital world of Chandrila so soon afterthe recent attacks orchestrated by the Empire’s Gallius Rax(as seen in theAftermathnovels).Adelhard is now doubling down in his desire for all-out revenge, hence Leia’s desire to rally her family and closest allies to face the Grand Moff. As such, Luke is shown being summoned by Leia after confirming that Adelhard is still alive.
Star Wars: 10 Things Only Die-Hard Fans Know About Jakku
Introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as Rey’s homeworld, die-hard Star Wars fans know there’s a lot more to the desert planet.
Likewise, Lando and his squadron are also called back to Chandrila, having been fighting to liberate Adelhard’s Anoat Sector (which includes Cloud City). Han Solo is also en route to help his friends, having been honoring his life debut to Chewbacca by helping liberate the Wookiees on Kashyyyk (also seen in theAftermathnovels). As such, it’s going to be very exciting to see all the original trilogy’s heroes finally reuniting at the end of the Galactic Civil War.

Adelhard Would Explain Where Star Wars' Most Classic Characters Were
Saving The New Republic (And The Empire)
The Battle of Jakku was a major conflict that left countless destroyed ships crashing to the surface of the desert world, as seen inThe Force Awakens. However, the battle had its own heroes on both sides as seen in previousStar Warsmedia, while its bigger characters remained in the background. As such, Luke, Leia, Han, and Lando all coming together to fight Adelhard feels like a logical and meaningful conflict that will still be connected to Jakku, while not necessarily putting them front and center.
“Luke, Leia, Han, and Lando all coming together to fight Adelhard feels like a logical and meaningful conflict that will still be connected to Jakku, while not necessarily putting them front and center…”

By all accounts, it does look as though removing the danger of Adelhard and his fleet will still be crucial to saving the New Republic. Ironically, this is also true for the Imperial Remnant as well, which is just as threatened by Adelhard and his desire for revenge. As such, it’s going to be very exciting to see how the final three issues of this newStar Warsseries unfold.
