Although the title was released on February 29 of last year, the second installment in the highly anticipated remake of the classicFFtitle took nearly a year to make its way to the PC. It seems that players were more than ready for the title, as many users flocked to the title as soon as it became available on Steam.
FF7: Rebirthwas released on PC on January 23. In that time span, the title managed to reach anall-time peak of 40,564 fans playing at the same time, according toSteamDB(spotted byEurogamer). This unseats the two most recent titles,Final Fantasy 15and16, which each had a peak of 29k and 27k concurrent players, respectively. The success ofRebirthmay push Square Enix to aim to bring the third and final part of the title to the PC sooner, a trend that it’s already on track for asFF7: Remaketook nearly two years to be ported to the PC.
