With Act 2 ofDestiny 2’s Episode: Revenant on the horizon, Bungie devs have some exciting news about the game’s upcoming act. Despite thechanges that arrived in Revenant: Act 1, the paltry content that Act 1 contained was less than impressive; however, there’s still hope for Act 2 and beyond. The Act 2 livestream was about an hour of news regarding the next act’s activity, weapons, and more.
For those not caught up with Act 1, Episode: Revenant focuses on yet another Echo remnant of the Witness, this time in the hands of the Scorn, Fikrul. Still loyal to Uldren Sov he once knew, Fikrul is using the power of the Echo to turn living Eliksni into Scorn, which is a process that used to only be possible using dead Eliksni. The Guardian joins Eido and Mithrax to stop Fikruland save the Eliksni of House Light from Fikrul’s corruption. Act 2 will continue this story, adding a bunch of new content to look forward to.

Everything Coming In Revenant: Act 2
Can The New Repeatable Activity Succeed Where The Coil Failed?
It’s certainly true that one of theDestinyteam’s biggest weaknesses has historically been creating a replayable seasonal activity that doesn’t feel like pulling teeth, and the Contest of Elders activity is its newest effort. This activity returns Guardians to the Prison of Elders, again following the whims of the Warden Servitor. Associate designer Noah Lee explained in the livestream onBungie’s Twitch page that it’s a “more roguelike activity,” and that “one of our design tenants is, we wanted to make it as variable as possible.”
Destiny 2: Revenant - All New Exotics & How To Get Them
Unlike the pre-Final Shape seasonal exotics, the new exotic armors for Destiny 2: Revenant can be found in a new location.
It’s clear that devs at Bungie know that the seasonal activities are getting stale, but whether Contest of Elders fixes this issue remains to be seen. Now, there’s only so much that can be done to prevent Guardians from getting bored, butthe addition of random encounters, added modifiers, and new mechanics should keep things feeling fresh for just a bit longer than they have in previous seasons. The goal, Lee explained, is to prevent the activity from getting too predictable, as this leads to boredom and general dissatisfaction among players.

Another interesting improvement upon the Coil is that the Contest of Elders activity will not keep traditional score like the Coil did. Instead of collecting points through dropped items during the activity, players instead maintain an in-activity Warden Approval Rank as they play. The higher the rank, the more loot awarded at the end of the activity. Additionally, fireteams with higher ranks will sometimes be able to skip encounters, allowing them to complete their runs and farm loot faster.
Contest Of Elders Isn’t The Only New Thing To Anticipate
Along With The New Activity Come Some Shiny New Toys
Alongside the Contest of Elders come two new seasonal weapons:an Arc precision-frame SMG called Noxious Vetiver and a Void precision-frame shotgun called Scavenger’s Fate. Both of these weapons showed promising rolls in the stream, hopefully allowing them both to be relevant in PvE and PvP. Additionally, Gridskipper, from the Season of the Splicer, will be returning to the loot pool. Keep an eye out for these new weapons while diving into the Contest of Elders.
Noxious Vetiver rolls with both Attrition Orbs and Jolting Feedback, so if players are looking for close-range add clear, this is one roll to chase. Check out everything the devs had to say in the clip above from theBungielivestream on Twitch.

Super changes are also coming in Act 2, which will see a pretty significant buff to roaming Supers in PvE. Roaming Supers are the ones that last a little while, like Stormtrance and Song of Flame. These Supers are going to charge at a two to three times faster rate than they are currently, allowing for them to be used more frequently instead of just in a boss encounter.
Taylor Bjorndahl, an associate weapons designer, explained that they want roaming supers to feel more like an integrated part of the Guardian’s kit. Currently, most players will hold onto their Super until they “really need it” rather than using it to clear a room, and this seems to be antithetical to what devs are looking for. With more Super uptime, they hope players will be more incentivized to use Supers when clearing tough encounters in the Contest, even if they’re not boss fights.
Destiny Fashion Continues To Impress
With The Dawning Just Around The Corner, Look Your Holiday Best
The Dawning is just around the corner, and the holidays are here with the new cosmetics available in Revenant: Act 2. First is aStreet Fightercollaboration that includes ghost shells, emotes, universal ornaments, and more. All of it will be available in the Eververse shop along with two new armor sets. One is the Dawning set for the year, which is “celestial dragon” themed, and the other is an adorable “Doki Doki” magical girl-themed set. Both the Dawning and magical girl sets will be available for Bright Dust, and if the prices for the Festival of the Lost set were any indication, they should cost 6,000 Bright Dust for the full set.
Outside of cosmetics, there are also going to be a few changes to the Dawning event itself, which starts on December 10.Players will see higher drop rates for cookie ingredients across the board, as well as a few new and returning Dawning weapons to collect. Finally, Strange Coins will now drop when giving cookies to the vendors, which means if players haven’t already, they’ll be able tograb the Xurfboard skimmer from Xur, which can be ridden all the way to Act 3, which is dropping in January.
A Glimpse Forward At Revenant: Act 3
Though There Will Not Be An Act 3 Livestream, There Is New Content Coming
Act 3 of Episode: Revenant will begin on reset on June 14, 2025, and since it falls right after the holiday and New Year’s season, there will be no livestream to celebrate its release. Instead, devs included a tidbit about the act in the Act 2 stream. Specifically, they introduced the new season exotic, Slayer’s Fang.
Slayer’s Fang is a Void, slug shotgun that has an interesting mechanic:its shots scatter into smaller projectiles, and on kill, these projectiles gain a bit of intelligent tracking. Additionally, kills will grant truesight, making this weapon a scourge in Crucible. To see it in action, players can check out the clip above, fromBungie’s Twitch stream.
Another thing that makes this shotgun unique to others is that it reloads the whole magazine at once rather than one shell at a time, breaking the traditional shotgun pattern pretty significantly.
Slayer’s Fang will be obtainable through the new exotic missionthat will drop with Act 3. Bungie didn’t reveal the name on stream, as it’s a pretty significant story spoiler, but the devs assured watchers that there will be secrets and puzzles galore in this new mission. This should satisfy those invested in the lore, as well as players who enjoyedrunning Encore: Overture to upgrade Choir of One.
Overall, there are quite a few things to look forward to in the next act ofDestiny 2, even for the most jaded of players. Though the community is pretty harsh on Bungie for the choices it’s making, livestreams are at least an acknowledgment that the devs hear even just some of the complaints that get tossed around. While it’s unlikely that Revenant: Act 3 will save the game, there are still fun things on the horizon for Guardians.
