A major Disney executive has just revealed thatStar Warshas many movies and shows in the works, in addition toAndorseason 2, and several projects have yet to be announced. The future ofStar Warsmovies and TV showshas been a question mark for some time, especially considering how fewupcomingStar WarsTV showsare currently known. There are moreupcomingStar Warsmoviesthat have been announced, but onlyThe Mandalorian & Groguhas a confirmed release date. It seems Disney is primed to announce much more soon.

PerVulture, Alan Bergman, co-chair of Disney Entertainment, revealed thata number ofStar Warsmovies and TV shows are currently in the works, some known and others yet to be announced. Bergman explained:

Cassian Andor, Mon Mothma, Bix Caleen, Luthen Rael, Syril Karn, and more in an Andor season 1 poster, edited with a red-to-yellow gradient

“In terms of what’s coming up, we haveAndorseason two, which we’re really excited about. It is excellent. I’ve watched all the episodes, and it is a fantastic season. And then we haveAhsokaseason two, which Dave Filoni is leading. And then we’re looking at a number of additional series that are in development. We’ll see what we decide to do. As I said earlier, they have to be great, and when we’re in the position where we think we have what we want, we’re going to move forward. In terms of the films, at this point we haveMandalorian, which is coming out Memorial Day of ‘26, and we’ve got a number of films that we are developing. When we’re ready, we’ll be making announcements as to what those are.”

While Bergman didn’t name any new shows or movies in this comment, this is a significant update, as it meansStar Warsis being more intentional about what is coming next, and more is coming soon.

What Alan Bergman’s Comments Mean For The Future Of Star Wars

Star Wars Is Taking Its Time—Which Is A Good Thing

What Bergman’s comments make most clear isStar Warsis thinking much more carefully about its path forward, which explains why announcements have been so few and far between. There was no Star Wars Celebration in 2024, and many therefore believed that this year’s D23 would include at least a few new announcements for the franchise. This proved untrue, though, as theStar Warsreveals at D23primarily consisted of a few never-before-seen trailers and some updates onAndorandThe Mandalorian & Grogu.

Given onlyThe Mandalorian & Groguhas a confirmed release date and onlyAndorseason 2 andAhsokaseason 2 are confirmed asStar Wars’upcoming shows, this seemed at best disappointing and at worst alarming in terms ofStar Wars’future. Bergman’s update has provided at least some comfort on that matter, though. Clearly, more is coming soon in the franchise, butStar Warswants to get it right. Ultimately, that’s good news.

Andor Season 2: Trailer, Story, Updates, & Everything We Know

Andor season 1 ended with an explosive finale, leading many to wonder what season 2 has in store for the characters of Star Wars’ most exciting show.

Our Take On Star Wars' Future

We Are Ready To Find Out What Comes Next

It will be thrilling to see howAndorconcludes, andAhsokaseason 2 will no doubt be brilliant as well. Even so,it’s more than time forStar Warsto reveal what comes next. The franchise has faced a number of obstacles in the last few years, especially with backlash to various projects andThe Acolyte’scancelation, which has made the future uncertain. Now, perhaps more than ever, the fanbase needs something new and exciting to look forward to.

It makes sense thatStar Warswould want to take time planning the path forward before announcing, especially given this recent history. Hopefully, that caution means the franchise will soon be back on track, with many shows and movies coming down the line. Presumably, with Star Wars Celebration 2025 only a few months away in April,Star Warswill reveal what comes next afterAndorseason 2,Ahsokaseason 2, andThe Mandalorian & Grogu.
